Originally purchased the windows from Sierra window concepts. There now out of business I wonder why ? and I have to deal with getting the windows replaced yet again it’s less than 10 years old. Anlin won’t warranty because even though they manufacture the product but it was under SWC band which apparently is a private label brand. I heard them pitch lifetime warranty transferable lifetime warranty virgin vinyl it’s all false.

My husband stopped last week and looked at the Marvin Integrity windows. He felt they had the look of a pretty basic window and thought the window locks seemed kind of cheap. That was just his impression compared to some of the other windows we have looked at. I'm going to go look at them this week too to see what I think since many of you seem to like this brand. In summary, we're going to choose from these windows we have looked at: Milgard thermal break alum Anderson 100 fibrex Milgard Tuscany premium color (painted) Marvin Integrity all ultrex Milgard Ultra Fiberglass I've listed these based on the least expensive to most expensive quotes we have gotten, but all are within a price that we consider acceptable. There is a difference of $2060. between the least and most expensive option. It looks like the thermal performance numbers are about the same for the Anderson 100, Milgard Tuscany vinyl, Integrity ultrex and Milgard fiberglass based on UF around .30 and SHGC around .22. The thermal break Milgard alum has UF of .37 and SHGC of .23. Anderson and Marvin have a similar 20/10 warranty and Milgard offers a lifetime warranty with glass breakage (except the alum which does not include glass breakage). We are currently installing 7 windows in our new build ourselves, but we want to have a window dealer replace the windows in our main home down the road so we want to pick a window that will be good for both projects. Based on this information, what would be your recommendation for our warm climate? Does the improved energy efficiency of the other windows or other features outweigh thermal break alum enough to warrant the additional cost? Your thoughts would be appreciated. we have a duplex that had 27yr old Anderson casement windows and we just replaced them with newer Anderson casement, 400 series, and noticed a bit more road noise actually. the originals were not special, says my dad that built the house. so no idea why newer actually seems worse. maybe the installation wasn't done well but I feel I have little basis to go and argue that point. anyway, on our next home, which we are moving into in 4 weeks, I'm getting g new vinyl siding and trims installed. while at it, I'm replacing 30 yr old wood windows that seals have broken and so I'm switching to vinyl and looking for the best noise reduction windows. mom has Marvin's that she loves and I admit they are nice and seem to block out noise well. some friends like their triple pane sunrise windows but I wasn't all that impressed. I liked the look but they swore by the noise reduction yet when I opened and closed it, didn't seem amazing. maybe my expectations were too high. wife and I are just confused on this subject. wr have to buy 14 sliders and a patio slider. that's gonna be expensive so I think Marvin may be out of reach. looking at noise reducing premium models from sunrise, jeldwen, crestline, Simonton. as far as looks of white vinyl in and out, I'm not too picky. just care about noise reduction. stc on all of these range from 31-34 with jeldwen being the highest I think. wish I could find one closer to the 40s. my next house is near a 4 lane road.

Many states have defined "lifetime" as it pertains to product warranties for the protection and benefit of consumers. In my state of Wisconsin for instance, "lifetime" is legally defined as 30 years. Could a window made of an inorganic material (or even wood in some cases) last much longer than that? Absolutely, particularly if it is a quality product. That said, advances in technology along with some expected degradation of performance will typically make replacement of a product such as window make good sense around or even a little before that time period.... really does depend on the quality and performance level of the original choice. Let me also add that in regard to "20 year warranties", that number is most often associated with wood windows, and is typically a 10/20 warranty. 20 years on glass only, 10 on everything else. This is in comparison to something like a vinyl window where many that are "lifetime", or 50 years, or whatever that number is, will apply to the entire product.
