I finally was able to upload the image from our Architect. This is a first drawing, so forgive the roughness! I'm going to give a brief description bc there is a lot going on!! Let's start with the "left' wall, with the range. The freezer is going to be at the end across from the peninsula, not where it is in the drawing. This gives about 30' of counter space on either side of the cook top. The back wall is going to have a furniture looking hutch about 4'wide. The curved wall is actually going to be a opening to the back hall. The previous desk/recipe area is going to become a pantry. We are going to see if it is possible to bump that wall out to become even with the outside staircase, so we could have a step in pantry. If we can't, it will still be a pantry but the specifics are yet to be determined! The right wall now has the sink, dw, and trash pullouts! The Arch moved the doorway down so that the above items could be accommodated. There will be a large window or windows about this area. The bottom 'wall' aka peninsula will now only have storage and the dinning room side will be raised to bar height. The island will no longer have seating. Disregard the curved end, that part was the Architects doing, and I was not a fan. I was really looking forward to having seating at the island, but we can no longer have seating on the right side of the island, bc of the new sink area. I should really start a new thread bc this is a far cry from my original post!!

M- we bought one those portable ice makers about a year ago when the water line on our fridge developed a leak. We decided not to repair the fridge because it is 14 yrs old. The portable ice maker takes the better part of the day to fill the freezer ice bin (which is more generously sized than in newer fridges). However, it neeeds to be babysat. It holds fairly little ice and need to be emptied when it fills up because it stops making ice and the ice it made starts to melt. It also understandably stops when it runs out of water and the water bin is not very large. Each time I transfer the ice to the freezer bin, it freezes into a block because the ice is wet. Since we have an ice dispenser, I break it up by coming back in 30 minutes and dispensing some ice to get the ice dispenser blade to stir it up and break up the block of ice and then pouring it back in. A lot of work for a week's worth of ice!

Hi L G, We ended up with all True for the bar appliances. In the living room bar, we ended up doing the True ice Maker and a True beverage center. We opted to put the ice maker here, as opposed to basement bar, since we figured we would use it much more often in the main living area as opposed to basement which is more used for movie watching and parties. So far that has turned out to be a good choice, since with two small children, we aren't hosting as many parties (yet). For the basement bar, we went with a True refrigerator, a True dual zone wine refrigerator, a True freezer, and a Miele dishwasher (Lumen, I think - I can get the exact model if you want). To be honest, so far this bar hasn't gotten a lot of use but we are still settling into the house, and I think it will be great once we are a little bit more up and running. It's been nice having the extra fridges for the beverage and wine storage. Overall we are happy with the selections. The quality and aesthetics are great. As someone recently posted on one of the threads, the True ice maker isn't "whisper quiet". You can hear it filling up water, clearing out drain, and dumping ice into the chamber periodically throughout the day. I honestly don't really notice it, and without basis of comparison, I imagine it's similar if not better than other ice makers due to the nature of the operation, but if appliance noise is a concern, I would definitely try to check out one and see if you are comfortable with the noise level before committing to one. But we've been very happy having it, and having it near the living space means it gets used a lot, and it's super nice making a cocktail and having a fresh supply of clear ice right by everything.
