petestein -- anything that needs correction/adjustment in a Miele product often begins with running the Sanitize cycle. It's the general go-to for most issues. It's long, it's hot and will clear the machine best. It's the 1/monthly maintenance cycle in my washer f.ex. Must agree this could be a rinse aid issue. However, something very similar happened to fauxguy when the formulation of his DW tabs was changed. Looked just like yours. You might want to look at those threads. If you haven't done so already, I would run two Sanitize cycles without any soap whatsoever. If there is still sudsing, I'd call the Miele help line to determine if there's possibly a leak in the rinse aid compartment. Also, when you get the Method tabs, cut them in half and use halves. Even better would be Finish Quantum, which sammiecanada used. I have both Method and Finish which are the best tabs by far in my machine. I use Method because I'my trying to not have much bleach in our septic. The are very good overall but not the tab I'd use for troubleshooting.

@fauguy - I live in NE Fort Lauderdale, zip code 33308. After testing the water from my kitchen tap with a Sofchek water hardness test strip I picked up at the shop where I purchased my Miele DW supplies (a vacuum shop at Commercial & 18th Ave.), I set my DW settings to 15 gpg. If I end up having a Miele tech out here at any point, I will ask them to recheck the water hardness. Our DW allows me to set the water hardness at the precise setting, as opposed to setting based on ranges. Unfortunately, I don't have much confidence in information obtained from my local water utility department; that's why I tested the water hardness myself. BTW, I spent time on the phone today with one of the founders of NY Minute, the company I booked based on your excellent recommendation. In my case, the installers left much to be desired. The lead installer spoke only broken English and communicating with him was a challenge. I put down layers of beach towels on the floor surrounding my dishwasher and the kitchen sink, yet the lead installer repeatedly ignored my requests to set his wrench, drill, etc. on the towels, and I repeatedly heard him dropping his tools onto the floor. As a result, I found multiple areas of damage (divets) in the marble flooring when they finished. Additionally, I just discovered that it appears I am missing two pieces of my dishwasher installation. Earlier today when I phoned Miele tech support to ask about how to tell when a cycle was complete, I learned that in addition to the audible setting (which had been disabled when our DW was installed) there should be a "prism" mounted to the underside of the granite counter, just above the Miele control panel on the DW, that serves to reflect the red indicator light that illuminates and flashes when a cycle has completed. According to the Miele tech, this prism is shipped in the box with the DW and comes with a corresponding stainless steel frame. Both pieces are to be attached by the installer. NY Minute's install team did not install, discuss, or leave me any such parts. Although my keyword search of the PDF manual does not indicate any matches for "prism," I discussed this with NYM today and also have a call in to the Miele Territory Manager who handles Miele issues for the dealer from whom we purchased our DW (FL Builder Appliances).

I have the Miele Diamante' dishwasher (3 years now) and LOVE it! Best one I've ever owner. Sister-in-law has had a Miele dishwasher 8 years no problems. Our last "Maytag" lasted 4 years. Miele makes fantastic appliances even though they are more expensive. Saves money in the long run when you don't have to replace it. Make sure Miele certified guy puts it in if you get one. I am having a Miele single oven installed next week. Good luck! ps- my repairman told me to STAY AWAY FROM LG AND SAMSUNG. He said the parts they use look like toys and they are pieces of junk. He said if you American go GE or Whirlpool and get the longest service plan you can get because American made appliances are built these days to last 5 years. If you go Foreign expect to have more difficulty finding certified tecs and longer waiting time for parts.

Right now I am washing a couple lightly soiled dishes but mostly crystal, using China cycle with pre wash. I am trying crushed Miele tab (about 1/2 tsp) in the pre wash and 1 tsp citric acid in main compartment, no extra dry. Whatever is going on here is occurring during the intermediate and or final rinse. After many tests, the residue is there regardless of soap amount, within reason. Both the Somat x5 and Miele RA (German and US versions) still leave the residue. Putting RA at 0 with or without detergent still leaves residue, just less. So it’s something going on with our water, I believe. Opening the door and spraying vinegar in during final rinse helps, but not pragmatic. Our Anaheim water hardness ranges from 17-21 gpg and was measured by Miele tech as 21, so it’s set accordingly with RA at 2. One other factor -water takes about 4 to 5 minutes to even get warm here on the 4th floor of our building, essentially a cold water fill. So as opposed to running the water prior to a cycle, I enabled the Heat Accumulator function. To make sure this wasn’t causing the residue, I have ran the machine with the feature enabled and not enabled; the Heat Accumulator didn’t seem to help or hurt the issue.
