Comments (11)I have thought of re-homing it, but I really don't have the room, unless I start tearing up grass and rerouting sprinklers! Unfortunately my BI is nice and bushy near the ground; it gets gangly at the top. From the ground to 3 feet up there are lovely leaves; arising from the leaves are clusters of bare cane that go for a foot or more before putting on buds. It's weird. Intrigue looks lovely; is it generally lighter or darker for you? Also, who else lives in your purple plot?! Do you have pictures for me to drool on? Thanks for your reply! Comments (33)I like the purple chairs too, very much. The particular shade of purple you chose is rich and beautiful, but does not jar the eye. I like the idea of a purple chair overgrown with some beautiful vine, as though the owner had slipped off through a secret door and would come back a few moments later to find that three years had gone by. You can tell I am addicted to fairy tales. I also understand the urge to do something new with your garden, and I like the idea of the arbor and bench. After all, gardening is a craft that by its very nature invites change. If we wanted to work in a medium that stayed done when we finished it, we would take up quilting or woodcarving or welding. And indeed, some of us do those things as well. Rosefolly...See MoreCould someone help me identify dining chairs? Pics
Comments (15)Well....this has turned into a discussion of pain ted vs not painted furniture.....when the forum is about antiques. To me things that were not originally made to be painted and get painted looks like "early marriage" decorating on a shoe string and if it looks beat up...paint it! And this assumption affirmed by all who says a Duncan Phyfe looks "Fresh and young" painted.... It would be criminal to paint those chairs...And I really think a painted Duncan Phyfe style looks very "improvised" painted....like look....I couldn't afford new....so I painted this! A real wood finish, with a coat of good paste wax....or if you must refinish it a coat of oil based poly is pretty resistant to wet glasses and milk spills....See MorePlease Help Me Pick a Purple Rose
Comments (45)Dear Lynn and Dianne, I had just written you a long post in answer to yours and at the last few words my system crashed. More briefly now I have cancelled Darcey Bussell and ordered Love Song since the lady at Chamblee's confirmed that for her, in Texas, DB was always more reddish and LS always stayed purplish, although I suppose it's really more in the mauve range. She also thought that LS was prettier than Blue For You when I asked her opinion. Thanks to your last two posts I now feel quite sure that I've made the right decision. I had already ordered DB before I began this thread about purple roses and was just going to add a purple, but if DB is reddish I know I wouldn't have been happy and it would have been a waste of money. Diane, I'm really amazed at your Love Song's resistance to the heat, and that makes me even more excited about getting one, since heat I've got. Twilight Zone is beautiful and I would have considered it but Chamblee's doesn't offer it. Maybe one to consider further down the road. Thanks again for taking so much time to assist me....See Moresaima10
