nosoccermom, Yes those tiles were the ones we had actually looked at already. We definitely need a new floor, the old one has been really beaten up and in fact was only glued around the edges, and it's coming up around the wall in some parts, and overall looks dingy. We weren't sure how the color would fit in with the kitchen however. The interior designer recommended something called "grey washed" is what I have written down. I like the appeal of the luxury vinyl, they aren't cold tile, easy to install, and the grout is actually a better version than regular tile group in that it's not porous.

I found some options from Lowes in your price range that would look good with your materials and have enough contrast not to look too beige. You can order them online and pick them up at your local store for no charge. Big box stores can be great places to find a good tile value. And I love that you can buy 3 or 4 sheets of tile, bring them home to see if they look good, and return them if they don't. Here's your space. Tile options start below. My favorite is the lantern tile. The hexagonal tiles are a very sexy look, but I'm not sure you have enough height in your bs. The glass and stone mosaic is a subtle look, but it has a nice level of contrast. The marble mosaic might look a little busy, but the colors are good. I hope these are helpful.

Katy, Are your current floors made of solid wood? They are so pretty. Are you sure you want to cover them with vinyl? I love your floors are they wood throughout your house? Have you looked at some mid century mod kitchens? Maybe copy one of the floor ideas... Your cabinets look a bit like Shaker. I love walnut. Maybe a cork or rubber... I wonder if you could strip and re-stain the current floors in a color that might work with your over plan. Luxury Vinyl seems like an interesting product. Here are some neat photos from Houzz... i would not do travertine or a design over stove. travertine will not go with counters, paint color or kitchen overall. design over stove dates your kitchen and you don't have enough space to make it work well. i am a little confused with the paint color. feels like a cool color. you have all warm elements. i would pick the darkest color in the counter and go from there. bring home lots of samples and see them in your kitchen, not the showroom. or since it seems u don't have much b/s sq. footage, take the counters up the walls for b/s. what are doing for an exhaust? what's your budget?? check out tilebar, fireclay, ann sacks etc to get ideas for tile.
