Hi, no help here, just a chance to commiserate...the same thing just happened to us, so maybe that helps you feel better? :) We specified pedestals and consoles all over the house, and nary one was roughed correctly. Of course I did not know what I was looking at in these months before the final plumbing went in, so I did not know to say something. In the master, we managed to get polished nickel water supplies and trap/drain, but the placement was off so there is a weird brass extender making it work. (I know I'm not describing that well.) In any case, I am chalking this up to "something I would tell someone else to watch out for!" and trying to keep my eye on the big picture. In the mudroom, I have chrome estruchons (sp), brass pipes, and wrought iron faucets...in powder room, all kohler "french gold" except white PVC drain (yuck) and another darn chrome estruschon (sp). I have learned that you can paint much of the stuff under the sink, so I am planning to do so in a couple places to match the walls to make it all less noticeable. Good luck...you're not alone!

Could be that the top is a "faux" created top. Too far away to tell. But it would be an easy creation and not expensive. If it is granite, yes to a bit of work involved. Wouldn't this be great if the CG had it done on a whim and surprise. I'm really curious about this now. Where did the photo come from? Curiosity killed the cat...a search shows up with bunches. . My attention was drawn back to this thread by someone who liked an earlier post here, and I wanted to update to say that I did move forward with a Brizo articulating faucet purchase in the end and received excellent pricing during a sale at Quality Bath online. The issue with the articulating faucets falling forward has been fixed, so unless you were to order really old stock from a warehouse somewhere, all the new faucets for the last few years feature the fixed joints, and of course, Brizo faucets come with Delta's lifetime warranty. I ordered two of the Brizo faucets in the Brilliance Stainless finish which is PVD stainless steel and among the most durable of finishes available for faucets on the market today. Anything with "Brilliance" in front of the name from Brizo means that it is PVD. Note that Brizo's chrome faucets are merely electroplated, so you'd need to choose a finish that specifies "Brilliance" to get the PVD finish. The articulating faucets from Brizo that feature covered hoses, which is the style I purchased, are all newer releases and so would have the fixed joints no matter where you ordered them. Quality Bath does not stock Brizo in house, so any order you placed from them would come directly from the factory. I'm really happy with this choice and look forward to many years of longevity from the Brizo articulating faucets.

The question is...does it matter? I think it does, because words matter. We throw around words on this board constantly when we really mean other things, and I too am guilty of this. Custom really doesn't mean custom when used on this board, it means architect. So someone who maybe isn't experienced on this board may see the word "custom" and think they designed their house from the ground up, therefore it is very custom. When most posters really mean the house needs someone with professional design experience and some measure of talent to guide you through the design process or actually design the home. ----------- Also a better understanding of the differentiation can lead to better advice. In the area I was born in (an area that I still own land in), the major tract builder can build a 4,000 square foot house for under $280,000. If you can't differentiate between a tract and production builder, it is hard to understand how that is possible. ----------- Finally, I am not sure this board does a great job these days of helping people build a home. I might be alone in this, but I would prefer a well built, poorly designed home over a poorly built, well designed home. We focus so much on the design process and the freedom you have to make selections that we sometimes miss the real tragedy of production and tract builders, the shortcuts they take in construction in order to deliver those appealing prices. While I agree custom homes are better than semi-custom and semi-custom is better than production, etc., the real quality cutoff for me is control of the how the walls are built rather than where they are built. For me this is the biggest draw for an architect and the thing rarely touched on, but may actually pay dividends far into the future that make architects not only affordable, but profitable for those value conscious consumers. Again, this is just my opinion.
