Design Dilemma Kitchens Paint

I am looking update this kitchen. Remove some cabinets, add shelving. Paint cabinets and walls. Update counters and lighting.
Please update thoughts on what to do for a modern traditional kitchen. I welcome links, photos and ideas. Also searching for great paint colors.

Once again, take all the frills off the cabinets, replace the hardware with chrome or stainless, and paint the cabinets a clear color (no glaze), and replace the light fixtures to something sleeker.
