Although the 2nd chair appears smaller in scale, if I were going to be sitting for a long conversation, I would prefer something more comfortable like the 1st.

Hi Erin, I’m not sure your price point but I always recommend Ballard Designs because their furniture is great quality, made in the US (upholsterers are in North Carolina), they’re about as close to custom as we can get without spending a bazillion dollars or hiring a designer (so many fabric choices,) you can get free fabric samples, they offer performance fabric, and most importantly the stuff looks great and is comfortable (think down wrapped cushions). I think they offer a pretty wide range of styles as well so there’s a lot from which to choose. The scale of their furniture also works well for smaller rooms - and they have a decent selection of apartment sized sofas which might work well for your space. I have two of the Candace loveseats in a smaller living room. Great scale, classic design, comfortable, and performance fabric because I’ve got 2 small dogs and a messy husband! I also own the Baldwin sofa which is insanely comfortable and regretted buying the Mathes sofa - not comfortable and very sloppy looking. Oh, and they usually go 30% off a couple of times a year so wait for that sale! Cheers and good luck!

It's not a useless space at all, its actually quite handsome however what you have in there isn't working. The TV not being used should come out, and now that I see it from a different angle I would not use sofas in there at all. The sectional is very wrong for the space and so is the rug. Since the room is a pass-through passage, I will re-direct and say put two high-quality leather swivel chairs in there along with a small striking rug that goes in front of the fireplace, and some art on the wall where the TV now is. A pair of either of these chairs (Hancock and Moore Tulip or Poet swivels) in leather would transform the space, open it up, and you probably actually use them. OH I love this!!! So much potential!! I actually think a sectional is good for this space. Bc if you do the two sofas you’ll block the beautiful windows. In terms of the sectional blocking the stone, and even if the stone wasn’t there, I would pull the sofa off the wall and closer to the FP a bit. Or you can do one sofa facing the FP.
