Hi Jane..., Sheen choice is such a subjective thing obviously. Some like a "glow" on the walls from nightstand lamps, etc., & others' don't. Some feel Flat finishes look rich, but cleanability drops off. Overall, the Eggshell SHEEN (not color) seems the most popular in our store. Consider your cleaning-styles/frequency too. If you're a fussy cleaner, Flat might not be for you; UNLESS you use a Premium-flat like C2 or ACE'S Sensations flat with Scotchguard-VERY cleanable. Don't be scared to "go deep" with color, if only on an accent wall. Deeper colors in Bedrooms can feel very cozy & warm...kind of the way a Bedroom should be! Be aware though, some dark colors need a dark primer under them. TWO topcoats still needed though!! (Of course, big color changes usually lead to new drapes, etc., etc.,.... ;-) Faron

We just repainted our bedroom BM Tranquility with a BM Frostine ceiling. Our bedroom has 4 large windows, two facing west and two facing south, in an extremely hot climate. This a picture I found on the interwebs, but it does not do Tranquility justice, it is about the most beautiful color i have ever used, I smile every time I look at the bedroom. Thanks so much! I actually came across a magazine ad that had grey walls with silver/grey and yellows and oak trim! I LOVED it and chose my wall color by it because I loved how it looked with the oak trim but now I can't find the same ad!! I've searched high and low for another inspiration picture and cant find anything with oak trim! Also the furnture we have now *is* dark so I will get a chance to see what that looks like.. if I like it I'll stick with dark when we get our new set. :)

I did that in my guest room - no problem at all. The carpet is pretty low pile and the rug is a fairly thick sculpted type oriental. I have no pad under the rug. I also have a very short, dense wool oriental rug on the carpet in my living room. That also works fine. I have all these rugs on carpet because I moved from a house with wood floors to one with more carpet. I hope to get rid of the carpet someday when I feel like moving everything again. So then I will need the rugs and in the meantime I can't stand the plain beige carpet. In another room I have a thick wool runner that covers the width of carpet from the deck door to the wood floor in the dining area. It has no furniture on it that holds it in place so it ripples a bit. I need to find a way to keep it flat.
