Changing Track Lighting to Canned Lighting advice needed!

Hello! We are moving into a new home and two of the bedrooms have this track lighting which is not my favorite and does not put off much adequate lighting. How "easy" is it to change this track lighting into several canned lights around the ceiling? My husband says it's going to be way too expensive. Just asking you all because he doesn't really want to pursue it. Can anyone tell me what the estimated cost would be? How "easy" is it to change? Thank you!

A youtube about how to do it. Sometimes things aren't hard, they are just labor intensive. Wait until the weather cools if you send DH into the attic.

If you pay an electrician to do it, it will be "expensive." I replaced a chandelier in my dining room with four canned lights on dimmers and it was around $500 as I recall and that was several years ago.

Maybe better bulbs in the existing lighting will give you more light.

There is a reason they have track lighting, might need to inspect the depth, lots of electricians will give package deals to install say 6 can light, tho the reason it's not giving enough light is because there are only 2 fixtures, and the bulbs themselves might need changed.

Stay with a brand name Mr16 track head. Most of them will last 5000 hours, or you can purchase 10,000 hour lamp for a little bit more. I have 50 of these lamps in my home, which was built 5 years ago, and I haven't replaced one of them. I use Iwasaki lamps, but GE or Philips are comparable. Stay away from LED.... They're not as dependable as anyone thinks, are they are very expensive. Their light output and colour rendering are questionable, to say the least.

We need to install track lighting in two attic bedrooms where for a variety of reasons other forms of lighting are not practical. Because the ceilings are low and sloping, I am looking for low-profile/small track heads that will not stand out. The rooms are small and we do not need a huge amount of lighting. I am very confused by the choices available and am wondering if anyone can offer advice on specific track heads that would work in this setting. I'd also be interested in brands or on-line vendors that are recommended. We live in the DC area. Many thanks!

I looked at this extensively. One thing that I found was that George Kovacs seems to be the least expensive option, however many people report that the system is dead on arrival, sometime multiple times for the same customer. I decided to go with a line voltage monorail system rather that a low-voltage system which would require a transformer which may buzz, and which may be difficult (or impossible) to dim and which may burn out at some point in the future. Also I specifically wanted lights that would look good hanging straight down, rather than being angled off to the side like the two images you showed. I ended up going with Nora Rail lights purchased from arcadian lighting and used their 110% price match relative to the prices for the same set-up from Besthomesystems Here's an image of how the lights look:

We have a 2076WH Lightolier recessed fixture in our living room and want to replace it with an eyeball recessed light. Is there a fairly easy way to do this or will it involve replacing the entire housing in the ceiling?

So this is the "garden level" or some would say the basement level. I wonder if there is no crawl space or attic, or, if the headspace is so slight that it couldn't be done? Well, everyone's comments are so helpful. This gives me a direction and a mindset to set aside some $ to see if I can get some normal lights in there! Thank you!
