Paint Building a Home Design Dilemma

New Dark Grey house - what colour front door?

Hi everyone. We just purchased a new house today. I wasn't overly taken with the colour of the front door, however am starting to doubt myself. I felt it was just a little too light - maybe am over-thinking it.

The builder agreed to repaint the front door in any Sherwin Williams paint colour but I am stumped. My original thought was a high quality stained dark brown wood - but don't want to add to the cost. Will have to come later!

Any paint colour ideas? Specific SW shades would be a HUGE help! We're not afraid of a bold statement but felt the mint was just swallowed up a bit by the darker grey.

I also included the front entry way. I am going to be repainting the dining room from that mint colour as well. Looking for something a bit moodier - suggestions on that would be lovely, too!

Front Door: Seaworthy, Roycroft Copper Red, or others possibly inspired by your favorite colors in your wardrobe. Interior: More moody green? Maybe Artichoke?

I got it... they are however a different style of home is all... that is to some degree. More modern in appearance. I'd personally go with something similar in colors as above meaning windows, door, fascia. I do think the garage and front door can be the same.. I don't think it, but know it. I would not put a red, nor yellow or other door on this home. The neighborhood is not conducive to that and I think too much white such as the garages and front door would not look right either. The colors I posted on the house above that is not the same style of your own is similar to what I'd do with a shade of white or a white that leans a pinch gray in gloomy or dim light such as Aesthetic White by Sherwin Williams. In bright light it will appear white though. It's an inspiration photo of colors only. A bit of freshness using a shade of white.

I hope the walkway planned is at least 4’ wide. With a white house, I think you could really play with a front door color. You need a landscaping plan and the plants can echo the door color.

Thank you both for the suggestions. I think I have confused everyone tho. The above house is the current color. We are changing the siding color to bm gettysburg gray hc-107. The yellow is pretty. Another option that works well with the gray and black is a raspberry color like SW Cerise. A dusty plum can be pretty as well. This is SW Plum Dandy.

I’m not typically a gray fan, but your house is so attractive that it’s really quite pretty with the white trim. How about a navy door? Not too deep a navy because the door is shaded under that portico.

Was looking up SW Santinori Blue and came across this thread you may like for another dark grey house. The calypso blue is gorgeous too in my opinion. Better than the reds/golds. Hale Navy is another good one. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/559137/front-door-color

I will head in a bit of a different direction. I think your house would look beautiful with a black paint (garage doors too ☺️).
Like SW7069 Iron Ore. I think it would look very chic. Then I would put a couple of black patio chairs on the porch, maybe with tan cushions. Accented with a couple of nice size pots with greenery. 😍 Love your porch!!!!

Totally agree on the door- the current color is way too pale. A deep teal, murky navy or black would look great. Something potent but not straight out of the crayola box :)
