Okay, I signed out of gardenweb and signed back into the site directly via my bookmark and there's no provision to change any display of posts. However, when I go back to Home Forums and select Home Decorating, that first page gives me the option of changing the display---I have to open it as a new session, almost. However, when I did that my view was already set to "latest activity," so I am not sure what to make of that. Clearly it does NOT show the latest activity because I had to post three times in quick succession in order to get it to the top of the list. there still may be some other metric involved. Regardless, everyone should realize that these threads sink much more quickly than they did on gardenweb, partly because there are fewer posts but also because of the forum design.

A formal dining room is going to need a chandelier that hangs fairly low over the table. It’s also an item that is pretty style/taste specific. I’d just put up an attractive flush mount ceiling fixture now and let a future buyer pick a chandelier if they want to use the room that way.

Yes, but... what if you took away the gorgeous windows and the charming beams overhead? Could this be pulled off as successfully in a much simpler space sans interesting architectural features? As with that photo (which is indeed beautiful), do you think it's the sum of the parts that might not be as effective without them?

Kaya the thing that turns Farmhouse or Modern Farmhouse into Industrial Farmhouse are components like heavier metals, metal trimmed out furniture with rivets, heavy beams, pulleys or industrial style wheels on furniture factory style light fixtures (your island pendents) etc. The term can be thought of this way. It is basically an old factory that is turned into housing but farm style added. If that makes sense. Exposed brick can be one, but this goes with several decor styles so I wouldnt want you to think , I love exposed brick that means I like industrial.
