I don't like my backsplash...Should I send it back?
Comments (30)It doesn't look that bad to me. The pattern would practically disappear with a like-colored grout and would just be a subtle texture. If the color is off (which is best determined in person and in different lighting) it might always annoy you which is a good reason to send it back. But the photos don't look any worse than some others I've seen posted that have been "oooh"ed and "ahhh"ed. I think if you had posted how much you loved it, you'd have had just as many agree. To me, the black hardware and wood valance "speaks" of a more country (vs urban) look. But I don't know the overall effect you're hoping to achieve....See MoreDo I Need BackSplash? I'll gladly let you snatch that paint brush out of my hand. ha ha. But at the same time if a little tiling will tie up the project, then I'm game. jodi_socal: I'm a little disappointed when you said fire and ice won't work. I just LOVE that F&I BS. But then agin, I think I know all along it's a little too much for my kitchen. Caryscott & petra: Thanks for the picture petra, it says a thousand words. Is spectralight glass tiles? Prices are pretty reasonable. What about that milk green color? will it work? maybe with some garnet pieces sparingly mixed in. I will take some pictures and post two HD Behr's paint card to aid in the discussion of color. Thanks again ALL! Comments (13)OK, I don't like the tile I posted and wish I'd been more precise. You're not going to go wrong with white subway, but if you wanted permission to walk a little bit on the wilder side, I think your kitchen could pull it off. What I was trying to suggest was a shape idea, like this perhaps. I disagree about using a traditionally laid herringbone accent, especially with a thick border. I would think it was too stodgy if this were my little kitchen, (except maybe the sideways pattern in eam's first two examples.) If you want an accent and use subway, you could also consider a stack or a chevron pattern. Here they use that pattern for the whole backsplash. Or do the BS in matte tile and the accent tile in a gloss finish. Or lean a large, funky handmade ceramic plate behind your range and support a starving artist. Your kitchen is darling. You didn't ask but I'd paint the stools. I'm just full of good ideas for your time and money, aren't I?...See Morewhat color should i paint my backsplash tile?
