Completely lost it with my office lighting
Comments (4)Sorry, I attached an image of the lighting layout. Hopefully this works (first time posting an image to the site). The smaller solid circles are the 4" cans, and the larger circles are 6" cans. The graph is equal to one square foot per square (the drawing is to scale). Please note that two of the offices, conference area and kitchen are actually separated by large sliding frosted glass panels. There are 3 panels to each moveable "wall". Each panel is about 4 feet wide, 8 feet tall. The ceilings are 10 feet tall but there is a 2 foot drop to meet the top track of the sliding glass doors. Light passes through the glass as well as it would with the glass doors open. One office is private and has its own door and no sliding glass doors. Note that I did add a third 6" can to the smaller 7 1/2 x 11' room. Any feedback is MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance. Comments (23)Sorry I haven't answered the questions. Been away for a few days. It's funny about those two boat prints as they weren't meant to be offset. The picture hangers that I attached to the wall are the same distance from the ceiling! The problem is that the picture wire attached to the prints isn't the same length so one ended up hanging lower than the other and I didn't want to make new holes in my freshly painted wall! Now that I think about it, I guess the easiest way to fix it is to shorten the wire that is too long. Duh??? Caminnc, thank you! Have you painted yet? I was thinking about you and your black dining room the other day and was hoping to see your finished photos. Our dining room is still in progress. I did the same drapes in there as I used in the study. I like them and they work okay, but there's no dramatic WOW factor. I guess that's the chance you take when you order 25 yards of fabric from a 6" swatch! It took me about two months to sew the 8 drapes since I work full time and have three munchkins home from school for the summer. I found art work that I love for the dining room and that has been hung also. The only think left is to paint the ceiling and then DH is going to add trim to make a coffered ceiling. He doesn't mind the dining room black but admits he likes the gray study a lot more. I'm enjoying both rooms after living with the restrained gold for so long and can give you a more honest answer as to which room I like best once the dining room ceiling is complete. cooperbailey, yes I sewed them myself. I don't consider myself a talented seamstress but I took my time, measured, pressed and pinned the hems carefully and they turned out really nice. I think the fact that they are striped really helped as it gave me a straight line to use for turning under the sides which made it much easier to sew. I couldn't find any striped silk premade drapes in the color family I was looking for and happened across this at fabric.com. It was on clearance for $9.49 per yard so including the liner I made each panel for about $40!...See Morecomplete start-over, how to furnish this condo
Comments (17)MCM style sofas can be amazing for sleeping..there are click clack styles, and whatnot. They can look beautiful being incredibly functional at the same time. The caveat-such sofas are usually expensive. Ot they're vintage..and still not cheap. Regular sleeper sofas, the ones that the mattress kinda folds out- are indeed not that comfortable. Couple nights-okay(I'm not talking about kids..kids can sleep anywhere)) Exclusions I personally encountered-was some sleeper sofa by American Leather. Amazing mattress. Real bed like feeling. aesthetically..well, regular sofa. Not too chic. Not too offensive and bulky either. Had no chaise. We do have a sleeper sofa with chaise (sectional. is that what you mean? or do you mean separate chaise?), which we use for watching TV and lounging in family room, and that get used for when we have too many guests (the reason we bought it from the get go), and our guest room is not enough. I like to lounge on it , it's comfortable as a sofa- but as for night sleep-not most conducive for a great sleep. We tried it. I usually have overnight guests not that often, but for a prolonged time when I do ..and if that's your case(relatives and friends coming from another state, or from a different country)-I'd look for something that would satisfy me both aesthetically and in terms of function, and I'd make it my splurge. Or I'd make a point to look for vintage. Has its minuses of course. It can be refurbished, in terms of how clean it is-but delivery is harder, etc. Still, might be worth it. How often you have guests? How long do they stay? what the ages might be? where I won't hesitate to put teenagers-I won't put my Mom for example. . As for the table, I find the most versatile might be a table with a leaf..say mine is oval and sits six, but can be made into round and sit four (I bought it second hand, with a second leaf lost-or else I could sit 8 easily when needed. Would come handy. We rarely entertain but when we do-6 is so not enough. I bring more chairs and all. ) Looks like a great place..congrats!...See MoreHow to remodel a bypass closet in office
Comments (6)It seems like your efforts may be better spent improving the interior storage elements..creating more solid shelves and cubbies perhaps...as to the doors ...replacement is the only option as remodeling doors usually just hampers the function..in the office i would suggest two hanging bars on one side ..and the other side only shelving.. ..so you only need to open one door fr office materials...See Moretartanmeup
