Cup and Saucer Vine (Cobaea scandens) - can it climb up wide slats?

I have a Cup and Saucer vine crawling near two different arbors - the metal one, closer to the plant itself, has thin posts, almost like metal wire, and it's climbing up there successfully. But the second arbor, which the vine is just now starting to reach, has wider plastic slats, an inch and a half wide. Will the tendrils be able to grasp onto slats that wide? Morning Glory, which I've grown there in previous years, has had no problem, but I'm not sure what Cobaea scandens will do.
