plants that cats like eating? =\
Comments (44)Mine loooove grass more than anything. One will weed my garden for me, wandering through the iceplant eating stray blades of grass. I've also found her chewing on star rush. They seem to love those long blades. I planted catnip, not realizing quite how quickly it grows. It turned into a weedy-looking forest within a few months. They cats will sniff at it occasionally, but aren't as interested as I'd expected. I have to pull leaves off and crush them up for them. One loves to crouch under bushes. I have a confederate jasmine in the corner and it's her special lurking spot. re cats on a balcony: I've had cats in several places with balconies, and they're very good at not falling off. Even as kittens. You might want to give them something to climb up on at first to investigate so that they don't leap onto the railing without realizing there's a drop on the other side and get a fright. The cats did fall off occasionally at one place. It was only on the second floor so they didn't get hurt. I think it was because they'd try to sneak around the barrier at the end of the railing to visit the neighbors....See MoreWill Cats Eat Mini-Roses, Clear To Ground?
Comments (17)This posting is way late but pretty funny, have to add to it. When I lived in the mountains I looked out my window one evening and I had a rose bush, the next morning all I had was one leaf left on the ground. I blamed the moles or the ground squirrels like in the cartoons, they pulled it from below the ground whole plant and all, very neatly no large hole, just one leaf left. PS I had up to 20 feral kitties and cats I was feeding a huge bag of cat/kitty chow each week as I found them homes, they did not eat the bush, nor did the deer so neatly eat the bush. With all the cats the rabbits would have been toast same as ground squirrels, I blame it on below ground critters!...See MoreCrafters have weird things in their purses
Comments (7):) up until about christmas time, I didn't carry a purse- I carried a backpack. sketchbook, watercolor kit, leatherman tool, round-nosed pliers, and whatever bits I had collected- pine cones, a baggie of cracked safety glass, old phone wire (the colored kind) or what have you... of course, when the receptionist at my husband's work mistook me for his mom, I realized I'd let the whole thing go a little far-he's only a year younger than I am! so the backpack now stays in the station wagon (which also has a well-appinted tool kit, never will I miss out on something curbside because I couldn't break it down into pieces that will fit into the car!) however, in the tiny little purse I bought myself, there's still room for my leatherman, a crochet hook, and a tiny little notebook!...See MoreI'm going to entitle my memoirs "Cats: Why We Can't Have Nice Things"
Comments (150)How I Loooooove these cat stories!! I couldn't help getting a few tears in my eyes but so many more laughs!!! At 73, I can't say I ever remember a time I didn't have at least one weaving in and out of my legs, tail up, meowing either for attention or food. A few even tried to use me as a scratching post !lol My bff in IL takes in rescues, and at the moment has 21 or 22. The 100 yo historic home she bought 9 years ago came with 2 separate garages, one housing the majority of the kitties, the other is used for storage, but she always keeps the big door open a foot at the bottom, and knows *other* critters take part in the 'vittles' also. Sthe has either 4 or 5 in the house, one being a mama cat w/7 kittens, the very start of her rescue 'mission'. She gave away 2 of those kittens(after neutering!),and never stopped regretting it. They have all found a forever home with her. Her vet/food costs are insane, and when I visited in the summer we found worms in one of the litter pans, and in a two day period, took every cat into the vet to be dewormed. That was $400. It's neverending work! Whenever I call she's scooping, feeding, or rocking one of them in the old rocking chair that was moved out to the garage. She also donates to almost every animal organization known to man, even if it's only $5. She's a one-woman rescue shelter, and I wish I were closer to help. We always say we like animals more than people because animals can't help their situatuon, but people usually can....See MoreEileen
