Can’t seem to post a video.

Keep trying, would love to see it. Mine passed last year, but he had started chomping on anything remotely green a few years before that. All the plants had to get tossed outside.

They seem to want anything green to help with their digestion. I don't know if it's hairballs or they just like throwing up in general. I take one of mine out on a leash and have to watch him closely. Last year he twice accidentally chewed a daylily leaf thinking it was hakone grass and I had to take him to the emergency vet for two days of observation. It can be fatal. It was a costly lesson to never take my eyes off of him when around plants.

When I was a kid my mom complained about the roof rats gnawing on her gladiolas...until we caught the cat doing it. I haven't encountered any flower-eating cats since.

A skilled cat will eat corn off the stalks. My last cat was too fat for that and had to resort to trash can corn, but he did love cantaloupe.

My last cat used to love to eat roses. I had to watch her during the day and hide my roses at night!

One of my previous cats used to love to eat roses. We'd have to put them up high to keep him away or else I'd take them to work. We don't keep live plants inside the house generally, other than cat grass or catnip.

Toby, yes they do eat grass, which cats are known to do. Kathy, sciencechick, yours too, eh?

Sherry, they eat all plants? That must be hard, to keep them off of plants poisonous to cats.

I've found chewed up petals but they seem more interested in the green parts. One of my cats repeatedly tries to eat a fake plant (yes, I know, fake plants are tacky, get rid of it).

I had a dog as a kid who liked gooseberries. If you have have never picked gooseberries, the bushes have wicked thorns. It was funny to watch the dog reach in with his lips to get the berries while avoiding the thorns.

It really does look like that cat is eating roses. :) At least it's in a dainty manner and not making a big mess!

(The cat-nibbled gladiolas were growing outside, not cut flowers. As far as I could tell, we didn't have roof rats indoors.)

My mom's dog used to stand in the middle of my dad's very precious cherry tomato patch and graze. A fence magically appeared. That dog also ate oranges and tangerines if you peeled them for him.

Roses are delicious and nutritious - why would cats not like to eat them?

3 Katz, they haven’t tipped over any vases. One of the cats did climb onto the fireplace mantel and broke an old Russian plate once.
