To preserve leaves mix 1 part glycerine and 2 parts water.Submerge leaves in mixture in a single layer.Weigh the leaves down so that they are completly submerged in the solution.Leave them for 2 to 7 days until they have completely absorbed the solution and are soft and pliable.Remove and wipe dry with a soft cloth.Done correctly leaves should last indefinitely.Leaves done this way may be used in floral arrangements. I think this would be the perfect way to preserve the leaves used for the cement and hypertufa objects all of you are making.This really works.A florist friend told me about this. I am very happy to see that I'm the only one that has inherited the specific problem. I had a next door neighbor actually that left me her entire doll making collection because her kids were no longer interested in it I'm still going through it as I have just taken possession of it less than a week ago. So far I have come across between 20 and 40 of the Seeley's molds everything from teeth to tongues to heads to arms and legs I have green where eyeballs wigs clothes stands paint brushes slips porcelain and my collection even came with the American Beauty kiln model number AB18 serial number 408. In addition to what you mentioned, there are transition metal extrusions and profiles by the Schluter company that the tile installer may be able to use to make for a clean and neat transition. I agree that T molding is not pleasing to look at. Note that some of these may be installed 'after' the lower flooring is in, which in your case would be the wood...but that is not necessarily so. The two installers need to engineer this transition for you. If this were a new build with clear and definite architect's plans for the transition, this would already have been done. Each installer would know what the plan calls for. Since that doesn't seem to be the case here, then you must do the designing for them and tell them what you want to use and how you want it done. This will also help decide what gets installed first and how and when the transition gets installed. Lots of ways to give you what you want. Try not to 'settle' for something you don't. As Mick Jagger and Keith Richards say, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need!"
