Fin Rot-Fancy Goldfish
Comments (33)If you have another air pump, go ahead. Smaller bubbles are better. Tall tanks have less dissolved oxygen, and its important to get as much aeration as you can with goldfish. As far as mixing salt with medication, it depends on what you buy. You are using aquarium salt, right? Not table etc? I know you should never mix quick cure with salt...there are others, but I do not know them. Hopefully some one else knows? You want to buy an anti-parasite medicine designed to fight ich. Not all parasitic meds will fight ich, and avoid anything with copper if you can. But it seems like he could have bacterial too... I say treat ich first, since he definately has that. The red streaks and rot could be bacterial, but could also be severe signs of stress too. Sorry I can't help more :(...See MoreQuestion re Irridescent Shark (catfish) babies????
Comments (12)Sherry....to take pics of your fish with an SLR....not sure what slm is .....all you have to do is take your pic on an angle to the glass......so the flash doesn't reflect back....if you use a flash.....you can also use top lighting from your aquarium and no flash...but this will result in duller or darker pics. When fish are first hatched they stay stuck to the plant or surface where they hatched.....they look like shimmering sticks with a egg sac for a belly....once the egg sac is absorbed they go freeswimming....if they are id sharks...its probably a good thing your bala eat them...sad but true. What did head quarters say about selling plants with fish eggs on.......that has to be a really rare occurance? They hung up on you.....geez. Hmmm......shipping fish shouldn't be a problem.....the fish are shipped to the stores in large white styofoam containers.....depending on the stores location...they stay in there for 3 days. I have brought back discus from a breeder that was a two day trip...all was fine. I brought back goldfish from a wholesaler I was visiting ...that was also a two-day trip. I have had fish bused to to me taking 18 hours.......If they are packed correctly and in the styrofoam coolers....and clearly marked with big black lettering.....LIVE FISH...FRAGILE they should arrive fine. Comments (84)We are in the SF Bay Area also. We just plant the seeds directly into the ground. They take off quite fast. I think we usually plant in March but this year we have alot of rain so I think it will happen later. After all these years with this melon it seems that it doesn't really matter if we do a headstart in pots or not. The plant actually seems hardier when it is sown outdoors. HwLee... our very first year we grew these were from 4 seeds that were given to my mom. We harvested well over 200 melons that summer and autumn! I did tend to the vines often with Miracle Grow etal...Since I didn't remember where the root of it was I sprayed the entire plant every 2-3 weeks. As the years past I didn't even bother to fertilize or even water. It grows like a weed! We barely watered them after the vines were about 3 feet long. And my mom has even cut up and dried some of the melons. They actually make a much tastier stock. Though they are darker in color. Wellspring... These melons if they are fully matured can keep for years. The way my mom has taught me to check for fully matured melons is to check the hardness of the skin. It is full ripe if you can't put your thumb nail through the exterior. We just leave them until I can see the stem of the melon starts to turn brownish. And still you can use the seeds from that same melon to dry. I have done this frequently. You can also use these melon like a hairy gourd melon when they are young. I think in a similiar thread somebody told me his Filipino wife harvest shoots and stirfried them. I'm a bit leary since they seem so hairy! Good luck your SFM this year! I was trying to post some pics but the files are too big for GW....See MoreShe was stuck, Poor Baby
Comments (1)It would seem to me that dying your water blue kinda defeats the purpose of having a pond in the first place. How do you view your fish? What not just use one of the microbial algae control solutions?...See Morepopmama (Colorado, USDA z5)
