Thank you sooo much! I am about to have a nervous breakdown! When I get home I will send pic. My painter likes Benjamin Moore Advantage, is there a comparable color to pure white?

You don’t necessarily have to. When you provide photos we will better assist you.

My walls are painted BM fog mist, to match my backsplash. That’s what the BM girl said I should use. I really didn’t want an all white kitchen. Was thinking of staining my doors with some sort of Walnut color. I also got all new wood two panel doors

Benjamin Moore paints on their web site, on my device, look nothing like they do in real life but I can adapt. Have you tried Chantilly Lace? You must have. Probably also tried Decorators White?

Yeah, decorator white is grey and chantillly lace is yellow. my house is open where you can see cabinets from entr , familyroom, dining room, and living room

That‘s what I thought! They almost look blue. Do you know the Omega line?

We adjusted the can lights to a warmer color but the undercount lighting was a little cooler so the upper cabinets and the lower cabinets looked like a different color so we switched them back. They are the adjustable led 5 inch cans

What color did you paint windows and trim? Every color I bring home is to yellow or makes the cabinets look more gray. I Like more warmer colors

Have you tried BM White Heron OC-57? Actually, if you could just list what you’ve tried it would be very helpful.

the Ben Moore lady told me to paint trim the same color as my ceiling. It’s to stark white.

I also tried taking my cabinet door to ben Moore and the color is to cool for the rest of my house.

Thank you, but I still have the problem of the base and the window trim. I love my counter top and backsplash, but you really cant tell in the picture how cold the cabinets are. The counter and backsplash to me are warmer.

The base color that is on right now is the ceiling white that the painter used.I think it is way to stark.

I personally think the contrast between trim and cabinet color is ok, esp if that trim color looks good with all your other wall colors and elements in the rest of the house. The kitchen is just one room but the trim color will be everywhere. That said, I am not a pro and you have to love it.

I’m keeping the wall color the same throughout the house(BM fog mist). You really cant tell in the pictues but the white is so stark that it kind of looks like Elmers glue. In some places I don’t mind it but I have all the windows in family and throughout the house. I think I should probably pit a little pigment in the paint but don’t want to yellow or to gray.

Hi @Bonnie Bosco. I have a couple of thoughts for you as we search for the right white:

1. Your trim color in the kitchen, abutting the cabinets, does not have to be the same white you use for the trim in the rest of the house. If they are slightly different shades of white, you will never register the fact that they are different whites, you’ll just appreciate that you have white trim that works for each space. Looking at your lovely images, all of your kitchen trim ends in the kitchen I think, so this strategy could work nicely.

2. Have you considered removing a cabinet door and taking it to the BM store to have it color matched?

3. You can adjust your can LEDs, and change your under cabinet light bulbs. Do both, and I think you will be much happier. Optimal appears to be a 4K - 4.5 K temperature. If you like the look with your adjustable LED, then go buy the same temperature light bulb for your ucl.

You are really almost there. Do not lose heart!

the one on the left is the match from BM! The one on the right is simply white

Will you ever see them touching each other? You see this as an error. It isn’t. It is where cabinet trim meets house trim. They don’t have to be the same color.

That said, if you want your house trim to more closely match your kitchen trim, we move forward. I’m sure we can find a color to do them justice.

Agree with eam44. What you have looks very nice. No need to match kitchen cabinet trim to rest of the house.

So, do you guys see how my kitchen is in the front of Nook windows and family room windows? Do you think the white is to stark? i see some pictures on Houzz that it looks like they’re trying to match instead of complimenting, do you know what I mean?

Bottom line is that it is only paint! I know it takes time and money to get things redone, but it isn't some major irreversible mistake waiting to happen.

The trim meeting the cabinet looks fine. I would paint the window in the kitchen first and then decide if it needs to be tweaked, before I painted everything else. Worst case you have to repaint one window twice.

I like my trim to be a bright white, but not stark, so that is my starting point.

Well, I am pretty sure the oak trim was chosen on purpose. I think it looks just fine.

Your cabinets are not going to change but you will get used to them. And you can still change the lighting, and we can still look for the right white. What if you mixed equal parts of the color matched paint with the Simply White you prefer? It’s paint - have fun with it.

My ovens are KitchenAid and my countertop is quartzite

I was thinking the same thing about mixing the paint!

What have you got to loose? Get a Solo cup, and a stainless steel ladle. Pour one ladle full of each paint in the cup, stir well with a plastic spoon, and voilá. Remember to wash the ladle off.

Is that what people do when they say a custom color?

Yes, that is home made custom, with known paint colors! I did that once in our previous house. This was back in the early 2000s when SW Kilim Beige was in. The Kilim worked great in my foyer, but was too light for the family room. The next colors on the same paint strip were too dark, I think it was Nomadic Desert. So I mixed up my own ratio. I used measuring cups to get the right color and then I mixed whole cans when ready to paint the walls. My ratio ended up something like 1/3 and 2/3. Not the best thing to do if you think you will need to touch up the walls at some point!
