Giving up on catching up.... (pics)
Comments (10)Thanks all! Yes SISTER LUCIENNE is a Shooter intro, and I really like it. We have had record temps (tripple digits in the Seattle area is almost unheard of, and we have had them for two weeks!) and this DL has held it's beautiful color dawn to dusk. Granted, it is in part shade, but I have learned for the first time this year to appreciated something that is still vibrant when I get home from work! Debra, if your's is redder, I would be thinking that it may not be the right plant, as mine has been one of the more consistant in color of any in my garden. As for PAW PRINT, I only added it last fall, but from what I have seen so far, if you are thinking about it, GET IT! It's first blooms started before our outrageous temps, but it has still been lovely at the end of the day when it has been very hot, and it is totally packed with blooms. I was terribly afraid that I would not get the watermark in my "cool...ha ha ha" world, but every bloom has been wonderful. I am doing a budcount analysis this year for all of my dl's (Thanks Rita, for the inspiration to really SEE what my plants are doing), and I would bet that even as a first year plant it is in my top 20%. The pic of WOW was taken early in the am, so the color by evening was much more washed out...it is not a real good "color holder" when the heat is on I am thinking.......See Morecatch up 15 Up and onward we go!!
Comments (10)Thanks Linda. MS is another of the ones I love...I think the colors are just beautiful.. Chris, MM does not increase very well for me . It just sits. It didn't bloom last year at all and was sparce this year. I thought I would give it another year or two before removing it.. MH blooms were really small this year. Also, it never got to it's correct form. The color is ok but that's about all. It looked better the first year I had it after taking a month to settle in.. Got your number for sure Rita. But you are right! Matt is a very pretty daylily and that helps even a clump.. Thanks for all your responses...Ellie...See Moreyou run and you run to catch up with the sun but
Comments (9)You know that fall is coming when you're already starting to plan for next years yard. I dont know if Im the only one who has already done this, but Im starting to already see what Im planting in the yard for next year and where everything is going to go. But most of my plants are growing better than ever so they havent taken a hit from the shorter days. Cooler weather is on the way here too (Not every day is in the 90s anymore) but fortunately no daytime temps out of the 80s and no night time temps out of the 70s. Summer is really almost over and its sad since it went by so quickly. Fall and winter are my least favorite seasons and my plants arent so crazy about it either! Good luck! -Alex...See Moretrying to catch up....
Comments (8)Karen, glad to hear that you are feeling a little better. I can surely relate to all you have been dealing with. We had the last of our 3 family weddings yesterday, this time my son's. It was a beautiful day and the wedding was just beautiful. It was an outside wedding and reception and it couldn't have been lovelier. She used fall flowers and deco's and her dress was ivory, and after the service, they had a lovely barbecue dinner with great food. I really enjoyed it= the fact that it waas the last of 3 in 3 months time, (also a grand daughter and a grandson) When I finally got home last night, the fibro really hit me. I was so tired and achey that I went to bed at 8:oo. My Dh woke me up this morn and asked if I was going to church, but when I looked at the clock it was 10:10, so I said "I guess not today" I"ve just been dragging all day long, and am so achey I can hardly move without moaning and groaning. I don't think the weather forcast is helping any either , we are supposed to start getting rain tonight that will last through Thursday. I thought if I could just get through these weddings, I would feel better, but I guess the Fibro devil had other plans. I am glad that you are feeling better though. Maybe what is really wrong with me is that I haven't had my "retial therapy" for a couple of weeks. Maybe I just need a few hours out of the house by myself. Take care, Janet...See Moreorganic_kitten
