Wanting to find a way to make a text book (rather than photo)

I have made many photo books of different vacation shots and also family photos but this time I would like to make a book of my grand daughters stories. Especially during this self isolation time and no school since March she has written many that I would like to preserve in a book.

any ideas of how to do that, are there similar companies that do photo books that would do text books.

thanks for any suggestions.

An option would be to save each page of text as a jpeg and use a photobook company.

Lovely project!

I would look at the various photobook layout options. For example, when I made my kids' baby books (2 yrs ago ...ok, so I was a little late) the first page of the book was a letter to them, with a small photo. It seems to me you could just use that type of layout for every.page. I think you can cut and paste the text. You probably want some visuals/artwork/graphics/photos/color in the stories anyway.... but a bit here and there?

karinl, Thanks for your thoughtful response. Yes, something off the grid is what I, and I suspect the college also, has in mind. The information session is not for a few weeks, but the Art Department has communicated in advance that the organizing committee will be seeking input from art and design students. I suspect that the community ethos of the project will be similar to that of conventional community vegetable gardens. But there will be many linkages between faculty, staff and students internal to the college, as well as cross-linkages to individual members and organizations from the wider community. The college (it's Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA) has exceptionally beautiful, well-managed and well-designed grounds which seem to have involved expert landscape designers and arborists. It also owns and manages the Graver Aroretum, which features mainly indigenous flora in a wide array of natural habitats, and which is situated some distance from Allentown in a more rural setting. These considerations and certain others make me think that the project leaders wouldn't need so much to be persuaded to move away from the conventional rectlinear community garden plan, but rather that they are already looking for a new approach. No doubt the core idea is to establish a space for vegetable production, but I suspect they also want to accomplish this in a stylish and decorative manner. I didn't really consider that integrating non-linear design into a community garden might be so "out there," but I, too, see no reason why it shouldn't be possible. So really, in asking for recommendations for a textbook or reference, what I have in mind is one that deals with contemporary design principles not for community gardens specifically, but for landscape design more widely, and including perhaps even the most up-to-the-moment and innovative approaches. Some teens like to travel, don't. Some teens are very honest, some just like to please friends and relatives and get what they can/want. I have known both types since I have been extremely active with teens for many years. Just dealing with youth groups is a great way to know them. I and would do it all over again. Since most of us do not know others here except by visiting on line, we should be able to form our own opinions and not get shot down. I found that out the hard way, several times.

elizpiz- The island and the base cabs where the soapstone sink is are painted a subtle green which sometimes seems almost grey. To make the transition to the white frig panels and to make the area under the speed oven seem more furniture-like, we painted the drawers the same green as the cabs and the background the same white as the frig and the uppers. I wanted to make the little drawer under the speed oven special and had planned on making it the sole drawer painted orange. Unfortunately, I didn't get my knobs in time to match so I made that the only drawer with a different piece of hardware. Also, you are seeing the library where the cookbooks are. I'll have my husband take more of a close-up so you can see the books. I'm a sick, sick puppy. And no I probably can't get rid of anything but I'd be happy to have you take a look. newbieremodeler - The cabs are custom. I based the sizes on what I needed to put there. I'm attaching my plan to give you an idea. I not only mixed slab and inset but some cabs are framed and some are frameless. The cooking side of the island is frameless and the side with the doors are framed. Glenda-- why do you have to print out the photos? These are digital photobooks in which you upload the photos that are already on your computer into the book-publishing software that's online. Are we talking about the same kind of books? Not the scrapbooking-type books where you buy stickers and paper and put it all together yourself on the kitchen table (which is what Bulldinkie's referring to?). I've done that, for my first puppy's life. Fun, but these digital bookmaking programs give you something different. Really nice professional look. There are some inexpensive photo scanners out there that'll have all your loose pictures uploaded in no time (or photo service places will scan photos on a CD -- if you can still find an old-fashioned-type photo place nowadays! They're dying off... unfortunately). I've stuck to Shutterfly for a few books I've done (trips). Too bad that the guy who wrote the comparative analysis didn't include the version made for Apple computers (tho I understand why--not everybody has an Apple). But it's the simplest one I've ever tried. At the time, tho, there were very few layouts to choose from. I saw a friend's Apple book and it looked really nice. Some of the book-publishing software is easier to understand than others. Beyond Apple, Shutterfly is pretty simple, but I found MyPublisher (and I think Blurb, too) to be much more difficult to master (without investing too many hours!). I'm going to mess around with the Inkubook publishing site next to see what that looks like. It got some good marks from this guy's tests.

I believe Amazon provides self publishing of books, not sure how much it costs.

There are places to go on line where you can self-publish, like Blurb and lulu. Some are set up to try to actually sell your stuff...

If you have PDF Writer, you can create a book in pdf and it can be shared digitally. Here are some cheaper alternatives.

If you have a book in PDF, you can easily print it or have it printed.

It's hard to know what you can do without knowing what you have to work with.

The simplest thing I can recommend is to put them in page protectors in a ring binder.

Several years ago, my parents went to India on a trip. I asked them to send pictures and journal like entries so that we could be on the trip with them in a way. Little did they know that I was collecting those entries and the pictures and we made a Shutterfly book out of it all. We loved it and they did too. My point is, you could type her text in instead of pictures.

I would scan them as jpeg files and use the photo book option.
