Dishwasher - cutlery tray/rack worth getting?
Comments (23)glorydays I don't think I agree with your salesman but here's what you can do (Its what I did). I brought my biggest and tallest glasses, pots and plates into the showroom and loaded the dishwasher along with my wife so we could see what fit. I am sure we looked funny dragging our stuff in but I had to know for sure. I guess I am visual and not trustworthy of salepeople sometimes. If the salesman won't let you find someone who will. Our Miele has an adjustable top rack (non cutlery) that we raise when we bring out our oversized plates and it works great. Good Luck. BTW you should be able to try out any appliance if they have a good showroom. Did the same with my double oven and now I have drunk the Miele Cool Aid. Comments (5)I liked the 7th G powder SO much with the old American DWs I had before. Downright sparkly dishes, like in an ad, with no rinse aid. It's not as great with my new Monogram DW (and in the new Viking before it) on the settings I use. It works fine, but no sparkly. The new 7th G tabs seem to do better than the powder in the new Monogram. They also have an anti-spotting agent that doesn't seem to be making my glasses taste soapy the way the liquid rinse aid does. But I've only used them a couple of times and don't know if I'll like them long term. Still not sparkly, but that's probably the machine, not the detergent. Clean is fine, and they seem a little sparklier with the tabs. Even before then, though, I found that the DW was wearing in, and the dishes were looking better the more I used it....See MoreWhere can I get a plate rack?
Comments (19)bumblebeez, I can't tell from the Country Living plate rack picture you linked to how they added the shelves, but my guess is they used screws. That's how I would do it. Use a counter sink drill bit when pre-drilling so you can either fill the "hole" with wood putty, if you were to paint it, or use the wood plugs to fill/hide the screw heads. Personally I'd use the plugs. And yes, Lowes or HoDe will make the cuts for you. Just make sure you have exact measurements. I've never been charged for any cuts made at either place locally and always have at least a few cuts on each piece I purchase since we sold our truck. Hubby just bought me a trailer though so I can deliver what I make easier! Yippee!...See MoreDishwasher leaked, so now I get a new floor!
Comments (13)Well I am happy I got a new dishwasher! They gave us a $1600 allowance for a new one! More than I expected. They have been real cordial and I have not had any issues. The last thing the gal said was get me your estimates on the floor and we will see what we can do. They asked for 2 estimates. When they replaced the dishwasher today I took more pics. There was also damage to the side of the cabinet. The defect was in the drum of the dishwasher where it was supposed to be flush it wasn't on the right side, it was pulled away. This was behind the rubber door gasket, so not to be seen until you replace the gasket. There was also water and/or steam damage on the other cabinet on the other side as well. After 4 service calls and a new dishwasher, I think our $150 purchase of the warranty was totally worth it! I think we are going to decide on the darker tile. So now the question is when can you get it done?...See MoreR J
