Count on some folks to tell you what they really think lol! When I was in college, and I'd come home on vacations, one aunt works always say "oh, bpath, you've lost weight." But I never had! I always wondered if she remembered me fatter than I am. At one summer party, I declined the pickles she offered me. She assured me they are not-fat and low-calorie. Ugh, I just didn't like pickles lol

Oh I forgot to add another "compliment' I received about my weight. This was a while ago as I have been stuck at the same weight for a while. Yet it still sticks in memory:

The other night minion told me "Not that I look or anything but I noticed your backside is a lot smaller."

Um....k.

Many (many!) years ago I mentioned to my mother that my sister's nose was just like mine. Surely she misunderstood me because she replied, "Don't be ridiculous! L......has a lovely nose."

We do have the same nose LOL.

I had a supervisor years ago, he and I did not care for each other. On 'Bosses Day' I sent him a dozen dead roses wrapped with black tissue paper, he acknowledged my uncomplimentary feelings toward him by saying every time he saw the dead roses he thought of me.

When my children were small, a young woman I'd met through a community group came up to me and said, "Your husband must be really nice-looking ... your children are beautiful." I burst out laughing at her transparent passive-aggressiveness, and told her my husband was, indeed, very handsome. Even if I'd been hurt or upset by what the little you-know-what said, I'd never have shown it.

It was late at night and I was walking in kind of a sketchy neighborhood. I could hear a group of teenage boys behind me, so I walked as fast as I could. Suddenly I heard someone running up behind me, yelling "Hey, hey, what time is it?" I figured there was a good chance I was about to get mugged. Instead, when he got right beside me, he said, "Oh, you're old. I don't want to talk to you." I guess I look young from behind?

We were friendly with a couple and went over to their house occasionally for dinner and to watch survivor. One day I had just gotten a new haircut and it was one of those messy flippy modern looking hair styles and I thought it looked fabulous. Her husband thought it looked fabulous. I guess she didn’t like that because she came up to me and asked me if I had cut my own hair. LOL

DD was a Resident Assistant in college. DDs and I were on the floor making construction paper chicks to put on each of the doors welcoming her residents back to school.

She said "I'm so glad I got your creativity and Dad's brains instead of the other way around." Oops!

Breenthumb, that reminds me of the story about Marilyn Monroe and Albert Einstein.

Supposedly she suggested that they have a child, because it would have her looks and his brains.

And supposedly dr. Einstein replied, "thank you my dear, but what if it had my looks and your brains?"

Not exactly the same, because the malice was intentional but many years ago, when I first learn to sew, my psychopath mother put on her reading glasses and scrutinized every stitch in an absolutely perfect garment I had just made.

She said, "well Sylvia, your sewing is...much improved."
