End of July already! Garden notes July 27th -
Comments (6)We had a lot of rain in the area over the weekend but it skipped over our house. My yard is really starting to dry up. I've been watering quite a bit. I HOPE that doesn't encourage mosquitoes Proudgm. I think they would need water that stands for a few days to breed in and my puddles dry up pretty quickly. Spray your hubby with the hose if he says that again. lol Oakleaf - I saw LOTS of Black Swallowtails last year and the year before but they've been very scarce this year for some reason. I have bronze fennel and rue planted for them for host plants but have only seen a couple caterpillars that I think got eaten before they could finish. : ( I also haven't seen very many Buckeye butterflies this year which are usually very common. I've seen more yellow Tiger Swallowtails this year though. Those are so pretty. I was pulling weeds this week and found my Chinese Astilbe that I thought died the year before last. What a nice surprise. It's very small though and needs to be moved to another spot. I also found a little sprig of epimedium that I thought was toast after the late freeze. It sure took a long time to come up again. Kaye - Hope you're enjoying your retirement. Some people don't get started on gardening until after they retire. You've got a nice head start....See MoreSS Support Mon. July 9th through Sun. July 15th
Comments (23)Donna - I have a lot of confidence that you will find some time to "play" next week, enjoy the time off! Besh - I agree, don't get frustrated, we have all been there and if you keep behaving it will only be a temporary gain. Suzanne - I love tarragon too, also rosemary. Dee - one of our closest friends is a dentist. I always ask him how it feels to have so many people afraid of you. He is one of the nicest men I know and I can only imagine that he is very gentle and compassionate as a dentist. He lives over an hour away or I would go to him. Marci - I have my gyn appointment in a couple of weeks - I dread it too, but necessary. How is DD doing (and you)? I can't wait to see DD#1 in a few weeks! Patti - if you are reading, we miss you, hope you are having fun being a grandma LOL. My MIL had been visiting since Sunday, she was suppose to leave on Sunday but became very bored and left today. I guess my BIL's house is more exciting (thank goodness). You can't even believe all the things we did with her and she is still bored. She had her hair done, we took her shopping, out on the boat, out to breakfast twice, out to lunch another day and out to dinner one night. DH went into work late so they could spend time together and 20 family members were with us Sunday and Monday. I wish I had time to get bored. QOD - No agenda and I hope it stays that way. I haven't had my house to myself since last Friday and it feels good to just be home. As much as I go out I am really a homebody at heart. Friends are coming up from FL tomorrow evening, so we will probably go boating if the weather permits. Enjoy your weekend....See MoreDaily Support Mon. July 4th thru Sun. July 10th
Comments (3)Hi! Congrats Suzanne on that terrific total on the yard sale! What was the fund raiser for? Carolyn, I feel your pain re the heat! Hotter than heck here too... I think most of us are catching up on FB, but I find this to be so much more private, a safe place where we can bare our souls. This group is amazing, even if I haven't been checking in so often! Just wanted to say thank you for all of the prayers and good wishes, good thoughts from you guys after my accident. I am completely recovered from that nasty concussion, jaw is all healed and i have been back to work for the past 2 1/2 weeks! You might have seen that I have already been deep sea fishing and this Sunday I am taking my kayak out on Newport Bay. Can't wait! Can't find too many friends or family who enjoy kayaking as much as I do, so I went to meetup.com and found some new friends who DO! Ha! There is group at that link for EVERY interest. So Carolyn, go find 'em! You might suddenly find yourself with TOO much to do! : ) tikanis...See MoreYippee it`s gone it`s gone.
