So sorry to see/hear of this installation issue you’ve experienced. It seems to be a two-fold issue...first being the fabricator clearly not listening to the desired design and making sweeping decisions without approval - not acceptable. To add insult to injury, the quality of the edge treatment done on the stone is far from acceptable. While it is true some stones can chip, this is hardly ever the case upon delivery to the site unless the stone was improperly handled. There are countless other Houzz users that have selected quartzite showcasing a quality edge treatment.


I’d personally work with the shop owner for a remedy, and if no luck, discuss it with your financial institution utilized to purchase the countertops. Perhaps begin with consulting with another fabrication for a “repair” assment... Assuming keeping the stone. If this were a project I worked on, I would have rejected the material at time of installation or held final payment for the work.

Did you buy the stone through the fabricator?

This edge appears to have had the chips reattached. The fabricator had an obligation to figure out how to miter this stone with much less chipping. Slower feed rate, proper blade, more water, and slower blade speed should have been tried. It's possible his blade was glazing which prevents the diamonds bonded into the blade matrix from getting exposed to do their work.

Had they glued the chips back in with Integra Chameleon, they may have disappeared.

I'd hit that with some Tenax Tiger Ager; maybe it could be disguised to acceptability.
