Paint Design Dilemma Kitchens

Need advice on what white for kitchen cabinets and wall color

Bought Coretec Plus 7" Broad Spar Oak floor for the entire floor in our ranch home. We are having the kitchen cabinets professionally refinished, and can choose any paint color from BM or SW. We are wanting a warm white and are leaning on BM Simply White, Cloud White, or Dove White. We will do the trim in the same color we choose for the cabinets. Need some suggestions for wall color and granite color for our countertops.

Yia Sou Apostolos! It helps to start with inspiration images, so if you have images of kitchens you like, post them. You have so many options - this will help to whittle them down.

Are these your floors?

If so, here’s what I’m seeing. This is BM Cloud White OC-130 for the cabinets and trim.

This leaves you with lots of options for the walls. You could stay neutral with BM Manchester Tan HC-81, or you could choose something cheery like BM Picture Perfect 734.

FYI tan is any hue is IMO yucky there are so many colors to choose from that are better than beiges and tans. As for cabinet color Dove White seems to be a favorite and works well for cabinets and trim IMO. As for wall color we need to see your stuff in place and then the wall color is chosen. Take the time to get some ideas into your idea book. If you give us some idea of colors you like that also helps. If you like grays more that beige that will tell us something.

I just painted big squares of different paints right on the walls. Then, my drywall man gave me "the look" because he had to skim coat the squares or they difference between unprimed drywall and the painted squares would always show through my paint. Who knew? So... I'd do what most wise people here do: Paint on big pieces of cardboard. Not only does it not screw up future paint jobs, but you can move them around in different light. Sure, if you have an extra cabinet door that would be great. Keep in mind that the sheen of the paint used can also make it look different. So if you're going for some kind of a gloss, the flat samples are going to appear different. I saw a credenza painted in the dark navy blue I was thinking off. Thought of this thread, but didn't save the link. If I can get ahold of it again, I'll post the pic. GORGEOUS.

Chiming in late, but wanted to say after reading the posts, gsciencechick, you never have to be embarrassed with us. We're are all here to help each other. Whether you have a big kitchen or small kitchen, old or new, we want to see it be the best it can be within each person's budget constraints. That said, I think your kitchen is very cute and has huge potential! alex's link to that white kitchen with the blue backsplash can give you the inspiration to take your kitchen in a direction without breaking the bank. As you search through the kitchen forum, you will see many people who have done amazing things to their kitchens all by themselves with paint and tile and light fixtures, knobs and pulls etc and are very pleased with the result. You'll get lots of good ideas here. Some you will like, others you won't. No one is offended if you don't take them and do them. Just keep posting and eventually you will have a kitchen you and DH are very proud of.

BM London Fog. It looks great against our white cabinets and our quartz is VERY close to your color from what I can tell. The London Fog matches the background tone of the quartz nicely and the white cabinets give it a fresh, clean, updated look. Not the best picture because our deck outside casts a pink tone to our wall, but you can see the quartz, wall color and white door in this pic to see how they work together. Here is a better picture of the wall color over by the ovens and up against the cabinetry. It looks darker here than it typically does in the light of day.

do you have an option to see the color first in your space, with your other selections if possible? say our cabinet maker made 4 samples for us.. (I didn't like any lol even though I myself chose the colors. They were beautiful, but looked wrong, put vertically. Luckily he had another eight or so samples from previous jobs and was kind enough to let me have them for a week or even more. I was dragging these samples around like a monkey with her glasses..turning them, putting in this light, that light...In the end I went with somebody else's custom color. I didn't pick between whites, but I'm not sure picking between whites is easier. Light and surrounding materials change your perception of color)
