At bedtime, when my bedside radio is "Off", I can push a bar on top and the radio starts.

When I go to sleep - it'll shut off after an hour.

In the morning, after it wakes me, when I leave and push a bar at the other end on top, it will shut off - or do it after an hour if I forget.

Why do all of these frustrating things happen to us older folks? Do you have one of those rollator walkers with the seat on it? That's how I had to "carry" things too for quite a while.

Just this morning I was saying to DH that this getting old is getting old...

Not fun getting old sometimes. I bent down to retrieve something off the bottom shelf of my fridge this morning and wasn't sure I was going to be back up. I'm only 57.

I must admit, I chuckled. Sometimes it doesn't pay to get out of bed!

Every time I set my clock radio when the hydro goes out, etc, it's such a pain. The buttons are all black, on a black background very very tiny print. Grrrr.

The other day I was looking all over for my dishcloth. I looked everywhere, I'd just used it. I even looked in the frig! Remembering the one time hubby went to get the milk out of the frig and there was the sugar bowl looking at him. (we howled at that one). I got a new dishcloth out of the drawer, thinking that would trigger the other one showing up for sure! It did, a couple of days later when I was getting the dustpan out. It had fallen between the frig and the counter.

These threads all make me feel so normal and I am really old, but not old old.

several yrs ago, about 20 to be exact, our oldest grandson n his sister were staying overnite one weekend. At bedtime I always laid down with them for awhile, we all told stories. Their great grandfather has just died the week before. Zach ask me if I was old, I said no! but I am getting older. He said, “well when you get old old you die”. It’s been a joke in our family since, “I’m not old old yet!”

I do some of the dumbest things anymore, tho.

I'm 69. I love reading the adventures of those older than me here. It's inspiring. I want to be like you when I grow up. People I know often forget my age. When I tell them I don't do mornings they think I am just not a morning person. That is true, but only to a point. My body and brain needs time in the morning. Vision, hearing, movement, digestion all of it. It's no longer get dressed and be out of the house in 15 minutes like 10 years ago.

You all sound pretty young to me! I have children older than you are. I will be 98 in September if the virus doesn't get me.

You’re a youngster compared to my Mom. She is 102. Her mornings are somewhat like yours. Bring in the paper, make coffee with half and half. She doesnt need a walker however she has no appetite. I wish she would eat more. If something buzzes or beeps in her house, she just waits for one of us to to arrive and turn it off. It sounds like you are doing fine.

Yes, I use a walker but not the rollator, I'm pretty content with the old style one. It has a tray and a bag so I can carry what I need. I'd like to be rid of it but I'm fearful of falling Better be safe than sorry.

I enjoyed the read too. I can relate to those "black on black" radio buttons! I had a nice portable radio/speaker combo once that I finally took to GoodWill because the text was silver, on a gray background. Could they make it less visible please, after all style is everything? -- LOL.

Just the other day I asked Alexa to set the alarm for 9:00 pm. I wanted to remember to put my bread in the oven to bake. She said alarm set for 9:00 p.m. If you would like the snooze option, just ask. I had not heard that before so when the alarm went off at 9:00 pm. I asked her for the snooze option. Big mistake. Every ten minutes, the snooze went off. I said, Alexa, turn the alarm off....Alexa, there is no alarm set......Alexa, turn the snooze off. Alexa, snooze? okay. me...no, no, no! Alexa, turn the snooze off. Alexa, snooze? okay snooze set. ALEXA how do I get you to turn the snooze off. Alexa, I don't understand. I don't know how I finally succeeded in getting the snooze off, but I will never use that option again!!!!!

Enjoyed hearing about your morning! My bedroom clock has the black on black too. It makes me mad when I'm ready to crawl into bed and remember I need to set the alarm. Of course, I can't tell what I'm pushing so have to go search for my glasses! ;)

My alarm setter's a twist knob on the back that I can roll with one finger.

Helpful too - as I take 10 pills a day of six kinds, some needing intervals, some with food, some without, etc. So clock set for 5 for one, then to 8 for another to get me a start on the day. Reset at night.

Hey! I think the radio can be set for two alarm times!
