Comments (2)Agree with Patricia. A gallery will overwhelm this space. Save your special picture to place where you will see it more and appreciate it, and find something fun for that wall, that is large scale. Not sure what your taste is, it's hard to tell with this photo. We can give suggestions if you give us a sense of your style preferences...modern, farmhouse, traditional, etc. I'd be more likely to center the couch to the wall, add some pretty drapes, and place the TV on a bureau with drawers, so guests can have a spot to put personal belongings away. Then you can add some very small end tables so they'll have a spot to rest a drink, or charge their phone, bedside. This is my guest room, with pullout queen bed. also VERY small, and doubles as a home office, so I've creatively used a file cabinet as one end table, and a small stool is re-purposed as an end table on the other side. I have a small, wall mounted television in the upper right corner of the room, just out of frame. If you give us a sense of your style, we can recommend specific pieces, etc. Right now you have a bright and pretty blank slate and neutral couch to work with!...See MoreHelp decorating room with grey sectional sofa
Comments (1)Find a lighter color on the paint strip and continue painting with it all the way up and ceiling. If the media stand can be painted do it is wall color but a gloss finish. Add window treatments; throw pillows; ottoman with a large tray; Pottery Barn…used these in a client’s den. If I remember correctly the blue/green of the walls is in the print, but it leans more to your sectional. Walmart Forget about throw pillows…they always will wind up on the floor....See MoreWill a sectional sofa work in this open concept room? Please help.
Comments (5)If you want a sectional, it looks like you could have one with the longest section facing the fireplace and either have a short section with its back to the window or opposite that, facing the window. But for placing the recliner so hubby can see the tv, probably back to the window would be best. I would not get a chaise sectional, if you need seating instead of lounging. If you need lounging/tv watching space, then a chaise running along the window would give prime tv view and it wouldn't block the view out the window. Then you could place the recliner (s) facing the window and view the tv - although a 2nd recliner close to the fireplace will have less than optimum view of the tv if there is even room for a 2nd one. You could put the tv on a swing mount so it could be angled more if lots of people are gathered to watch tv. It looks as if you don't have to use that doorway by the tv, since there is another in the dining area? I love a curved sectional for optimum conversation comfort, as well as lots of lounging space: picture the dining room where the painting is here:...See MorePlacement of Sectional in Family Room?
Comments (8)I like Plan A because of your slider orientation and because of the way the sectional guides traffic to the bedrooms directly, but to the pool and TV slowly. Your diagrams are NOT sloppy; they are very informative and show you already have great ideas. Brilliant placing the console table and pair of stools behind the sectional for watching tv while eating. Is the round coffee table actually a storage ottoman? I would love that for my poor bruised shins. Is the chair a swivel chair that can turn easily to watch TV, or a lightweight rattan one? It's not MY room, but if it were, I would want some storage on that wall for my crafts and puzzles which I enjoy while listening to or watching TV. I say that mostly because I have too many occasional tables and bookshelves and not enough closed storage. And now that my bookshelves are falling apart, I am rethinking them in favor of closed storage and/or glass etageres. You didn't mention an etagere, but they can be really neat for displays while still looking somewhat transparent and facilitating roominess. I like they way they can reflect light with either glass or mirrored shelves. If you want to add detail to the diagrams, distances between sectional and walls would help. Or, dimensions of sectional and width of room from sliders to opposite wall. The concern is the passages around the sectional. Is there room for a piece of furniture on the wall opposite the sliders, and if so, how much?...See Moreskmom
