What I did was use old shards of stained glass, some are even old 70's lamps dissasembled and cut up, and I tumble the glass in a rock tumbler sometimes, to get the sharp edges off,(but this can be done by scraping the glass edges together to get the edges dull) and I use clear silicone adhesive to glue the peices to the shower door, leaving a space for grout. then I grout it just like you would tiles on a backsplash or tub surround. I have even bought stained glass off ebay! And also have smashed up glass plates, bottles to use in this fashion.

I have a bathroom with a very low ceiling of 81". The height of my tub is 13" and from the top of the tub to the ceiling is 68". I'm looking to buy a semi-frameless glass bypass door that is tall enough that a 6' person won't have to play limbo to get into the shower, but also low enough to allow an adequate ventilation gap at the top. Seems like the Lowes/Home Depot standard is around 58", but that seems short. I've seen a 62" tall door, but would a 6" gap at the top be enough for ventilation???

About 8 months ago I removed what I believe is exactly as you've described: a metal framed sliding glass door from a cast iron bath tub with tile up the walls. (I then promptly destroyed the tile and tub, but that's irrelevant to this discussion...) There had been some holes drilled in the wall tiles, but the tub itself seemed to be fully intact. There was a lot of caulk everywhere that would need to be scraped off and then cleaned up with some sort of chemical. (I found a caulk remover from one of the big box stores that was fairly cheap, easy to use, and didn't do any damage to any acrylic tub so certainly cast iron and tile could handle it.) I'm guessing you also may end up with some holes in your tile where the door is secured that you may need to patch and/or cover with the new door.

Does anyone have experience with the CRLaurence Cambridge Stye Double Sliding tub doors (or any other frameless-style tub door where both doors slide? Most of what I see has one fixed door and one sliding door. A glass company recommended the Cambridge door as an option for both sliding doors with no track, but a different glass door company told me this wouldn't work as it would leak at the bottom. My goal is a glass door. (I tried to sell my teenage son on a shower curtain but he hates those.) I don't want a track because I don't like leaning on the track when giving a child a bath. I want both doors to open so I can reach in and turn on water and then get in on other side. Also, if bathing a couple of kids at one time, it is nice to be able to move from one side of the tub to the other. A picture of the Cambridge Style door from internet is attached.
