I know I probably went overboard, but I have been searching Houzz for shower/tub combos for myself if I decide to go in that direction. Most of these pictures have Master Bath titles - they tend to be small houses or apartments in large cities where space is an issue. They all have a generous sized tub. A few have extra shower bling and even a separate tub filler. All of them have material choices and the level of tile work that you see in a master bathroom. I'm sure that if I searched Houzz I could find just as many, or even more, remodels of small master baths where they have just built a walk in shower. I think the decision to do a shower/tub may be a personal choice because they want a soaking tub - since they are titled Master I'm assuming the bath is not the only bath in the house and they could easily just go with a shower. If it was initially installed properly that will be siliconed in and the 2 screws drilled thru tile to anchors. The side or vertical tracks will rest in and snap connect into the bottom track. The bottom track should only be siliconed in on the outer long side this is how all the water will drain down thru the wall tracks and under the bottom track and drip out thru the weeps of the inside of the track. Sadly often times people try to seal both sides of the track and thus creating a water stop right where it needs to drain. You need just use some more brute force in pulling it away. I use Vice grips and I start at the top of the track and rather than pulling outward twist it away from the wall. oce the track is loose and the silicone bond broken you will be able to pull the track up and out of the bottom track. after you remove all tracks you may opt for a brand new razor blade scraper and carefully scrape all silicone off. Then proceed to clean silicone residue with denatured alchohol and a white nylon scrub. If you need get more agressive you then ramp it up to acetone. I cant fail to mention you will be damaging the track and need to replace it, as well if you have any underlying tile bonding issues you can expect to pull a tile or 2 off with it. Not likely but it can happen and youve been warned! so simple yet such a long response-best

I bought an AMERICH WRIGHT base level acrylic tub for $1,000 from a bath and kitchen store in 2017 and it is a piece of plastic. After two years It was stained, difficult to clean and never feels entirely clean, the caulk around the tub has needed replacement several times, and the Americh label partly wore off almost immediately. I never use any abrasive cleaning products (all organic). When I contacted the manufacturer they pointed out that I the care instructions said I was supposed to WAX my tub with high-quality carnauba paste type wax. Wax my tub? They also referred me to a very expensive tub cosmetic repair company. Unfortunately I removed an old enamel tub instead of refinishing it. Number 1 worst decision in my remodel after seeking lots of advice. I dream of ripping this one out and replacing it with an enamel tub. Thanks for the suggestions but it is the tub itself I am having trouble cleaning. Looks like there is probably no easy way to do it and I have to suck it up and deal with it. Tracks are screwed into the tub and tile surround, therefore are not removable. Someone should invent some kind of discreet plug for the holes left behind. Unfortunately this tub area was newly remodeled when we bought the house 5 years ago and we can't redo it any time soon. The rest of the house was original mid 70's builder grade with old carpet and popcorn throughout, so there have been a lot of more pressing projects.
