Call them up and say, I'm quitting now if you can't fix this problem. Sometimes that's the only way to get help. You will need to go to Tech Support and have someone you can understand. When you uninstall you don't really lose all of your AOL Files. Errors that are in the AOL files can and do sometimes stay and keep causing problems. When I have a problem that I can't get rid of I do this. Right click AOL - properties - Find Target - Select All - Delete. (Be careful that you delete all files before leaving because you won't be able to come back.) Go to Control Panel - Add and Remove - Uninstall any AOL files their. Delete all AOL Icons. Use CCleaner for Clean and also the Registry. Save the Backup. It would also be a good idea to make a Registry Backup. I than use an AOL CD to Reinstall AOL. I have Windows XP Home Edition. Use the above only if all else fails. I'm not sure what will happen to your PFC Files. To be safe use Saved on AOL in Manage mail. Registry Backup. Start - run - type regedit - OK Open file at the left top - click export - Go to my documents - For Save type - Backup - Save. To use your Registry Backup. Start - run - type regedit - OK Open File - Import - right click your Registry Backup - Click Merge. Don't be moving it to a different location. This can cause difficulty in getting it to work.

I just checked one of my old posts that had been truncated that I did not contact Houzz about and I can't imagine anyone else contacting them about. It has been fixed! They also restored the photo hyperlinks to view the pictures larger for the existing externally hosted photos. Plus they removed the crazy fixed width attribute they had added to the image tags that forced all smaller pictures to stretch to 500 pixels wide. So that is three really big improvements recently. Not sure why they don't mention all the fixes in their "updates" section. I thought I would check the butterfly FAQ to see if they were fixed, but many still seem cut and have the "..." at the end. That normally indicates that there is content that doesn't fit (at least on this site as far as I can tell). But, none of my posts that were truncated ever had the "...", so that may be a separate issue? It is good to know they are still working on things, even if they aren't saying it :) I was a little worried because on another thread a while ago one of the admins had said that the truncated posts should be fixed, but to let them know if we found more. I thought, oh no....if they are actually fixed then we shouldn't be finding more. I checked mine at that time and it wasn't fixed, but I wanted to just wait and see if and when it was fixed. Now it is. So they are still working on it I guess.

Mad_Gallica - thanks for the tip. I guess I must be one of the Houzz glitches, then, because the "keep me signed in" is always checked. Given Hoovb's comments though, I guess I should be grateful and not quibble about a few extra steps to log in. That also explains why I've been getting spam and other contacts from organizations that are clearly my husband's interest area - his computer is the one that actually keeps me logged into Houzz. No sense getting more people to track me than needed. As Ingrid says, I'm happy to bypass as much of the Houzz advertising process as possible. On my iPhone, I use the 'frequently used sites' icons that are there when I click on Safari and it takes me right to it. No (lousy) App for me either. But I also learned the trick (from a fellow GW poster) to find it anytime, from the Houzz Home page drop down Menu. And I always use a mobile devise (iPhone and iPad Mini) but it also has worked on a PC or Android devise when I've tried it. That other GW post was some time back when Houzz was reaking havoc with our beloved GW Forums soon after the transition. Everyone was having issues with their bookmarks and previous ways of finding GW. The poster mentioned that it was now listed under the 'Advice' section!! I'm sorry I don't remember who it was to give them credit for that marvelous discovery. Previously I believe there was a 'GardenWeb' listing directly from the main menu. So even just now, from Safari, I Googled Houzz, clicked on the Home Page, then click on the Menu icon to get here: Then click on the 'Advice' section and you will see 'Houzz Discussions' and 'Gardenweb Discussions': I never knew there were two separate Forums before. Then to get here for instance, click on the 'Home Forums' under the GW Discussions. And then you have all of the Home Forum topics: Or the wonderful Garden Forums etc. I'm not sure if everyone else is doing it like this or something different. But this simple direction has helped me immensely. I don't comment often (especially having delt with long term family health problems) but this Forum is and has been such a lifeline for me. It is informative, entertaining and has such emotional continuity with the history of such great posters. The knowledge base and the time to giving help from everyone is just amazing. And yes I quite agree with the frustrations of new Houzz posters who don't know the GW ways and other irritations. For instance I was no longer getting email notifications on comment follow ups like I used to on the old GW. I'll see what happens after this one though. But I plan on sticking around for the long haul. Sharing knowledge and helping; isn't that what GW is all about? Paying it Forward.
