When installing Aol, If you have ever used Aol, you must alway use your original account info. As for it being Caps or small, it matters not. The only time it matters about Caps is if it is your Password. Because when you use Caps for a password they are recorded in that manner. As for not wanting to use your old screen name. Just add another screen name . Aol allows you to have seven screen names. When I first got Aol they assigned it to my real name. I did not want my name spread across the world, so I just quit using that account,It sits idle after a while.

As for uninstalling all of Aol, Yes it can be done. But it will make no difference as to what name you have to use. You must reinstall it with your original account name. Then just make the change to the name you want to use, ( In Settings) at the top of your Aol screen. If you still want to uninstall Aol Let me know. I can help you with this as, it is no easy task. I can sign on to aol on the initial sign on screen with no problem. I am connected and I can surf web pages. What aol is not letting me do is go into help, keyword, my preferences, my account. It asks me for my password and then does not accept it. It will not accept my password to add any new screen names. I can basically only surf the web and retrieve my mail. I can not change anything in mail.

I have done the aol quick restore with the aol techs. NO USE.

I have posted on the forum and got no responses.

When I opened up my aol account after not having it for more than 6 monthes I asked the guy about a new screen name and password and he allowed me to do so. He told me that when I went back to the start up that everything was very case sensitive and to make sure I put in exactly what he told me which is what I thought I did.

I cannot add another screen name or go into settings because they are not accepting my password. Believe me I have tried a zillion different ways, a zillion different times. It does not accept the password or screen names for the last time I had an account.

Im screwed. I dont want to get rid of aol but I want to do more than just surf the web and get mail. I cant add signatures...I cant sign onto anything else but the original sign on screen.

Did I mention I cant access aol help because it wont accept my password? AAAAH(running screaming from the room)

Call them up and say, I'm quitting now if you can't fix
this problem. Sometimes that's the only way to get help.
You will need to go to Tech Support and have someone you
can understand.

When you uninstall you don't really lose all of your AOL
Files. Errors that are in the AOL files can and do sometimes
stay and keep causing problems. When I have a problem that I
can't get rid of I do this.

Right click AOL - properties - Find Target - Select All -
Delete. (Be careful that you delete all files before leaving
because you won't be able to come back.)
Go to Control Panel - Add and Remove - Uninstall any AOL files their.
Delete all AOL Icons.
Use CCleaner for Clean and also the Registry. Save the Backup.
It would also be a good idea to make a Registry Backup.
I than use an AOL CD to Reinstall AOL.
I have Windows XP Home Edition.
Use the above only if all else fails.
I'm not sure what will happen to your PFC Files.
To be safe use Saved on AOL in Manage mail.

Registry Backup.
Start - run - type regedit - OK
Open file at the left top - click export - Go to my documents - For Save type - Backup - Save.
To use your Registry Backup.
Start - run - type regedit - OK
Open File - Import - right click your Registry Backup - Click Merge.
Don't be moving it to a different location. This can cause
difficulty in getting it to work.
