Rainforest Sunrise question
Comments (7)I bought this one yesterday at a local garden store. Still waiting for the rain to stop so I don't fall down in the mud trying to plant it. Yesterday walked backwards into the hand truck, tripped on it and landed on my rear. Don't need to be breaking my wrists or hip at planting time....See MoreDid anybody lose Rainforest Sunrise this winter?
Comments (15)I had to smile about the phase "evil twins". I had no issues with Great Expectations. I have 2 (rescued from the nursery at the end of season as babies) and they have grown well for the last 3 years, every year the eye count increases and the texture and leaf shape and color are absolutely the best (in my opinion). RS on the other hand seems to be less reliable for me. I actually lost one 2 years ago so I got more last year. I will wait for a few more days. All of my hostas have pipped out except 2 on the north side of house (El Nino and First Frost). I am hopeful at least one of the RS will survive. Babka, I will check for other damages if I can locate the roots. Thanks for the info. Vivian...See MoreRainforest Sunrise replacement for Maui Buttercups
Comments (4)Thank you both. That’s a useful comparison photo of both plants, Kathy. Your RS looks like it has larger leaves than MB, unless that’s a trick of the photo angle. I really do like the bright yellow of mine in the pot, from the nursery. But I like the yellow green, too, as long as it does not darken too much. The sun RF will have in the old MB spot will be early afternoon. What colors will be in this bed this year will be different than in the past, though. I lost a center branch of the overhanging pine due to snow weight in late spring. The huge old Frances Williams that loved it here better than any of the 4 locations I have put it, is bleaching on one edge. Ditto the Gold Standard that has been moved around along with FW....See MoreRainforest Sunrise
Comments (15)I understand too well about the early risers. I have a guacamole that I moved a week ago, it was too close to my house, soil too warm. I added it last summer in a sunnier spot, but the weird weather gave it damaged leaves. Hopefully it won't rise as early next season, it seems happy in its new spot. I have a Fragrant bouquet that seem to have a bit of early leaf damage every season, give it a few weeks and those wonky leaves aren't noticeable. Sherry...See MoreJon 6a SE MA
