Black Window frames and mullions
Comments (13)Black is a classic! It's a timeless color choice. You do have to be thoughtful with other colors and finishes you pair it with but that would be the case with any design decision so no extra work there. Look for a high contrast color pallet to create a striking look. The recommendation would be to go with a white, greige, or gray for the majority of the body of the home and be sure to balance out the visual weight of the black with other black accents or another highly saturated color in the roofing, doors and/or hardware. Best of luck with your renovation!...See MoreBlack French Doors and Window Frames - Have to match?
Comments (5)Sorry, I didn't realize I got responses! yes, the grids by the kitchen sink are in the window and are actually brown, like the window. the grids in the window with the plants are white but I can paint those. Thanks for your responses. Any ideas about where to get industrial looking black French doors without paying any arm and a leg?...See MoreMixing white and black window frames
Comments (12)instead of the black, have you thought about bronze? and instead of beige, why not do a dark charcoal or black trim? I think if you got your black window it would tend to tie it together better than beige and the one odd black window. ya know? I have a similar style home. I did a black french casement window for my kitchen window that looks right out the front porch. there is only one other white window on the front of the house. this is a horrible picture because it was right after painting and nothing was cleaned up, but it gives you an idea. the trim is Wrought Iron. you can just see the black window in the background...See MorePaint my interior window frames black??
Comments (50)Could we see some pictures of your spaces that show us your style/ furnishings? The black door seems harsh to me next to the neutrals in the living room, but I like the black shelving in the kitchen, but that is based on such a small view. I do like creative ways to add color. One of my favorite photos is one where they switched the wall color and the trim color in two adjoining rooms. Here is another with colored trim that I really liked: I do like the black trim in this room with all the bold colors. And this window with only the frame painted green. It is such a bold color statement that a little goes a long way: With the exception of white on white or rooms like a sun room where painting trim a different color than the walls can be distracting and overly busy, I don't generally care for the walls and trim to be painted the same color. Feels like someone didn't want to go to the trouble of painting doing 2 colors. There are always exceptions, but generally, it is not a look I like. I think it works in this room: Whatever you do it has to fit the overall aesthetic of your home. What works well for my sister in her Tudor home with Queen Anne Antique furniture does not generally work well in my MCM ranch with MCM furnishings or with my sister in laws French Country florals and pastels. I have some pictures that I often share when asked about colors that are examples of whole home color palettes, but are also examples of how a style and aesthetic was carried from room to room. I also like looking at the color tours on the miller paint company blog where you see multiple rooms of a home that has been painted with a sense of purpose, where everything works together to create that cohesive feeling most of us want in our homes. https://www.millerpaint.com/blog/...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
