I'll be glad to update you all. Here's an update. I got the seeds several weeks later (no idea the seller was in China). Sprinkled them onto the medium consisting of granite grit and fine pine bark. They sprouted pretty fast, but I think the mix was too heavy because the shoots did not seem to be able to go in at all - they just grew above the medium. Some mold appeared soon after, not much, just here and there in the mix. I did nothing about it and it did not grow much. I watered by misting a few times into each hole, then I'd let it stand and percolate down, then judging by the mix color would often mist a few times more, wait again to percolate. The goal was to have the mix moist but not soggy at all times - it was difficult as expected, I needed to check more than once a day for sure because the lights would dry the small quantity of mix pretty fast. Even if the watering part was OK, without penetrating the mix the germinated seeds were doomed. And indeed the shoots dried up. Even though the mix would be slightly moist, the air right above may have been too dry under lights and the shoots desiccated. Small pockets of mold did survive. :-) So, the other day I emptied it all into the garbage. Lesson learned - need a lighter mix next time if doing something similar. Hey, here's an idea. Pirate Girl, you suggested rooting hoya cutting in water in these. While I am not a fan of water rooting because of the need to regrow soil roots later, BUT I do want to try semi-hydro method for rooting and growing, and I just thought maybe this container can be used. I'll need to use smaller particles than hydroton because I do not think it'll fit through the narrow openings. I'd fill the three globes completely, not partially, with the hydro medium and stick some compact small leaf hoya cuttings in there, defoliated in the mix but of course with leaves above it. To keep the water (fertilizer solution really) fresh, I'd hold the cuttings/plants with my fingers, turn the whole thing over to drain all the water, then refill just a bit or fertilizer solution to stand at the bottom for wicking. What do you all think?

The fruit needs to mature before you can harvest the seed. The seed inside will be quite large compared to the size of the fruit. I don't actually know what the mature fruit looks like because I got mine in the mail and the fruit/rind had already been cleaned from around the seed. I believe that is required by law to stop the spread of citrus greening disease. Curry leaf tree seed must be fresh to be viable, if it dries out it won't grow. Apparently I posted here years and years ago when I was living in another state, that plant died pretty quickly. I got seed from a grower in Hawaii about 5 or 6 years ago and most of those plants are still alive and most of the seed DID germinate, all of it, eventually, as far as I remember now. Mine are currently not doing as well as I could wish because where I live now they only get a month or two of outside time. I DO NOT put them out until it is at least 50F at night here, this year that didn't happen until mid-July. I expect to have to bring them back in soon because night time temps are already back into the 50F range, it won't be long before they start falling below 50F. It is OK to schlep them in and out during the daytime, and I used to do that, but I've become old and decrepit and its too much for me to do that every day any more. Right now mine are past due for a repot, the organic portion of my Growstone-peat-bark planting mix is pretty well spent. Mine flower every year for the past 3 or 4 years but they never set fruit, I'm not sure why - lack of pollinators possibly because I live in the High Sierra Desert area at 5400' altitude. I wish my Walmart carried curry leaf plant LOL!

I just received the most WONDERFUL box from Miss Sue! It was so big, it took 2 kids to carry it. :) And MERCY, I just about fell out of my chair when I saw how much it cost to mail! Prices are getting ridiculous!! I tried to keep track of everything as I unwrapped them, but I had 4 little helpers (the girls helped me...the boys couldn't have cared less- they know they're going to be recruited to help plant later on! LoL!) so I didn't get everything written down. But everything looks great, nothing is wilted! Which was SO surprising, considering the heat! I know there were 2 mini roses, red & blue salvia, many daylilies, 6 succulents, dianthus, lantana, rosemary & lavender. The rosemary & lavender made the box smell SOOOO good! If I've forgotten to mention anything, please forgive me! Thank you SO MUCH, Miss Sue! You outdid yourself with a WONDERFUL box, and I absolutely LOVE everything!
