Exterior door style - should it match interior door style?
Comments (4)I think its more important that the interior doors should match the interior style, than the exterior style (assuming your interior style is vastly different than the exterior). If its the doors I'm thinking, the interior door you like is a very contemporary/modern frosted slab door. Are the furnishings and finishes inside the house going to be on the modern side? The exterior door is very rustic/French Country/European, and goes very well with almost every other interior door on that page (the doors are mostly traditional), and works well with a traditional style interior, IMHO....See MoreDoes your exterior match your interior design?
Comments (26)What an interesting thread! My friends who live in San Francisco Bay Area Eichlers definitely do NOT have their interiors matched but I suspect that's because we're all in the same place in terms of young children, and those Eichlers are crap for storage, etc. I'm so glad boxerpups posted, inc. a picture, because now I know that our house is Transitional Traditional, oops, I mean Traditional Transitional. Whatever, it's a 1997 large suburban house. I think our house makes sense, like I think when you drive up and then come inside you don't go "whoa nellie!" Is it what I would have designed if we'd done custom? Nope. But it's home!...See MoreMatching trim colors with prefinshed windows
Comments (9)Okay so we are definitely true to our forums! LOL They are right about making sure you get a good window though. I think THAT should be your first concern as well because they sure aren't cheap to replace if/when they fail. KWIM? We enlarged our kitchen window over the sink and replaced it with a casing window so I could open it easier. I was pretty amendment about getting the wood ones until we found out that the wood framing is actually wider than the vinyl and therefore takes up more of the glass space (or in our case the view). That's when we grudgingly agreed to go with the vinyl and to my surprise its worked out really well. I don't see any variation between the white of the vinyl and the softer white we used on our trim. NONE at all! In fact when standing at the sink, I don't even notice it has a vinyl frame. Just food for thought....See MoreShould I paint an interior door to match the walls or trim?
Comments (4)I think there are pictures in the forum representing almost every combination imaginable and there isn't any one combination that pops out in my memory as not having worked. Our interior doors and trim all match and are softer white. On the exterior, is the same. White trim, white door, hunter green shutters (which we're planning on changing eventually). I like it that way because the white is a nice contrast and to me it provides a more cohesive look. I think you should do what is most appealing to you....See MoreRelated Professionals
