The weather is perfect, 50's at night, around 80 in the day.

Lily and Petals

Loch Ness Monster. After 10 years or so, there are still only 3 plants and I started with 2.

Peacock Maiden. I love this: the form, the color and stripe, huge size, but after the first couple of years it has been so sparse on buds. Nothing I've tried has helped. I wonder if anyone has a recommendation of a similar one that I could replace it with. Or one for a trade or postage.

Seedling. Not quite as bright or tall as last year, but it is only the first bloom of the year. Also it has been more of an orangish red.

Stealth Bomber. Finally doing well. I love it! Took it about 4 years. Thanks Karen!

Tune the Harp, much more colorful, possibly the cool temps.

Smiling Ladies.

Weed killer. I dug this up for seeds from Celeste. Sadly none of the seeds grew but lots of weeds and bermuda grass did. I decided to kill the weeds a different way since nothing will be planted there til fall. Unsightly but it is in the back.

Wonderful blooms Brad . I love Tune the Harp . Just the right amout of frills for me and I love the subtle shading on the petals .Bali Watercolor grows here too ......one of my favs! Love your non-chemical approach to weed killing !

Bali Watercolor and Lochness Monster are my picks today. I’m hoping Lochness Monster improves, it’s a different looking bloom, I like it

I was out pruning apples on a beautiful Saturday, 1/28, and as I pulled a branch down to do a cut, it broke. Upon inspection there was a borer that tunneled a hole inside the branch. Clipping down the branch I found him, an orangish yellow worm with black spots down his back, a dark head and dark posterior. I encountered one of these in this same tree, William's Pride, last summer. Does anyone know what this is? Is it any cause for alarm? Should I do something to control it? Thanks for your advice. Ted

Thanks everyone for your nice comments. Today Party Pinafore rebloomed and it is the lightest rose (more like pink) that I have ever seen it. I will try and posts a photo soon. Really?! How awful. No, not in my area that I know of. Once, where I managed a restaurant, there was a mystery spitter. HAwking spitter. In the elevator on the ceiling. On the chandeliers in the main dining room. Had to be a cleaning person, given the fact if anyone saw them during business hours, they'd probably have beaten the crap outta 'em. Never did figure that one out. I'd love to trade seeds. Leave the flowers on the plants, put some kind of paper or something under the plant. Then let winter happen. In the spring the seeds will have had their cold snap and be ready to germinate. The seeds are very hard to see once they've dropped. I have purple, so I'll just let 'em spread. :) I forgot to say I also have fox poop. Chicken poop from the neighbors. And cat poop. Did I mention a full supply of cat poop? And 5 cats who think my raised beds are litter boxes? Convenient, though. Fertilizer and I don't have to scoop. Enough about poop. It's freaking martyphilpot out.

Bali Watercolor has beautiful colors in your garden. Stealth Bomber looks great. Is that the one I sent you three years ago, or one from Karen? Stealth Bomber never looks that purple for me. It's more of a red violet here. Your red seedling's colors are probably off because of the cool temperatures. When the heat comes back, so will the orange tones.

Debra, Now that you mention it, this clump of Stealth Bomber is from both of you. I forgot about that. The one you sent nearly died out, so Karen sent me some. Then yours recovered.

I have been known to use that method of weed killing, LOL. I used to have Peacock Maiden here, I always loved the color and form, but it never had many blooms, and usually were very short. When it disappeared, I mourned it, but not enough to replace it. I so admire STealth Bomber, may still have to get that one. I have had Loch Ness Monster for many years too. I would not call it a speedy grower, but I have divided it several times for trades, and have a modest clump this year. Not a heavy bloomer for me, but the bloom is different and usually nice.

The seedling has gotten more orangish as the day has progressed.

Spiritual Corridor wasn't open enough earlier.
