Apple Branch Borer

I was out pruning apples on a beautiful Saturday, 1/28, and as I pulled a branch down to do a cut, it broke. Upon inspection there was a borer that tunneled a hole inside the branch. Clipping down the branch I found him, an orangish yellow worm with black spots down his back, a dark head and dark posterior. I encountered one of these in this same tree, William's Pride, last summer. Does anyone know what this is? Is it any cause for alarm? Should I do something to control it? Thanks for your advice.
