I'm not an expert, but your option 1 reminds me a little of my current layout. My current closets are 3x3, the depth feels like a waste of space, so I'm aiming for shallow reach-ins. Seems like your existing closet is narrow and deep, so you may already have a good idea how that works for you. With option #2, I like that you can have a window in the bathroom. The bathroom is nice and big...but I think I'd rather have some of that square footage for closet space or in the bedrooms. What about using some of that bathroom space in option #2 for a reach-in closet? If the room is 8x10, you would have the width for a 5-6' bathroom and give up 2' for the closet.

I'd like to suggest reading the "Layout Help" topic to see what information would be really helpful (see end of post). E.g., what can be changed/what cannot be changed? Just plopping down a layout and asking for help isn't enough...we need to know what we have to work with. Right now, people are making suggestions with very little information to know if the suggestions make sense or are even possible. I do agree that your "new" layout is not very functional. Have you considered moving the kitchen to any other space - not just the bedroom, what about the other bedroom or the Dining Room? I think your mud room could also be improved. In fact, I think you might want to take a step back and look at the entire floor and how the various rooms relate to each other and the flow - which I'm not sure is being adequately addressed here. I'm itching to redesign the entire floor! :-) Other questions: Why do you want a "breakfast" room? Do you really need two types of table seating? You say you "already have a lot of bedrooms in the house" - how many? Where are they? What about full bathrooms? Do you need two bathrooms on this floor? What other rooms would you find useful? A library/study/den? Does anyone work from home? What is the composition of your family? Is the wood deck area your family entrance? She can have any background she wants for zoom background it does not need to be part of the real room. Can you post pics of the actual room since your drawing shows no meaurements we can only guess as to what will work. The size of the chair fior sure or maybe she can relax in your space after work . You need to post a plan to scale or it is completely useless If she is just there for a short time can she not eliminate the chest then that would free up some space

@3onthetree How do your normally raise the floor level for slab to get the sewer slope correctly? Do you just add sand or 3/4 gravel? The clean-out in the back of the house is 4" pipe that is 16" deep. If I put the bathroom toward the house (North side) as @cpartist suggested it will be 45' away from the house(clean-out). If I put the bathroom in the back (south side, it will be 75' from the house (clean-out). I talked to the contractor who I know, and he said that he fellow whatever the plan specifies regarding the slope or whether to add sand or gravel. I got myself in the schedule with the architecture. He suppose to start on August... Everyone is busy down here. If I go from the main connection in the front of the house, to get the correct slope, it will cost about $10k more ( about 120' from the main sewer).
