Lamp Height for Bedroom Night Table
Comments (4)Hi. Thanks for the responses. To answer some of your questions.. The actual dimensions of the night table is 27"W; 15" Deep; 27" High. I would say that the top of the headboard of the bed in proportion to the night table is about 25" higher than the night table. Since the master bedroom has an overhead light, the lamp that I want to buy to place on the night table, will not be used for dressing, but more for reading while in bed. I am not sure if a lamp that is over 27"/28" in height would look to cluttered on the night table, but I agree with the comment that it has to be high enough to give off enough light while reading in bed. I just didn't want anything too imposing. Since I'm thinking of a candlestick type lamp (which is very thin), I suppose the area won't look too overpowering....See MoreA question about mismatched night stands and lamps- PICS
Comments (19)Have you considered doing your WTs first? To me, it looks odd to see your window below the table like it is now. I'd want to see how the two connect before finalizing that decision. I know you want a lighter feel, but I think you need to maintain a similar scale to the bed. Even if you don't get the ones that are sold with the collection for your bed, that would be a good guideline to shoot for in terms of the dimensions. I also like the suggestion of a skirted round table on your side and Bachelor's Chest on your DH's side. You could also achieve a lighter / less wood look, by opting for painted nightstands or even mirrored nightstands would look stunning....See More2nd Lamp & night stand added to guest room - does it overpower?
Comments (24)I think the reason people may think your lamps are too tall is that they are so used to lamps that are not nearly tall enough. The purpose of the lamps is to provide light for a person sitting up in bed reading, and that light source ideally comes from above the person's shoulder. There is an easy way to determine whether the height is correct; sit on the bed with a book and turn each light on. You'll know immediately. I think you have done a marvelous job with the guest room. It is serene and lovely. The size of the oval mirror is just right over the headboard, as the ceiling is not high and you don't want the mirror competing with the lamps. If you are set on changing that, I would probably replace it with three smaller square framed prints in a horizontal row above headboard. Great job!...See MoreLamp for between beds
Comments (25)Thanks all! Nightowl, thank you so much for the pics!! Such a help. I need to figure out how to do that for myself. I would rather have sconces as well, but I don't want to commit to that just yet. I will wait until DD is older and see what she needs as time goes on. Nini, I have no idea what to put over the beds. That will be a decision that will probably be made when I see the perfect thing I must have! So, not for a long while. : ) Olychick, I agree that the shorter lamp gives us more leeway in decorating above the beds. Definitely something we thought of and is what is making me hesitate on the taller lamp. I just think the taller lamp is more interesting. But maybe I should choose function over form!...See MoreLovely M
