Anyone looking for a Kohler Fireclay Apron front Farmhouse sink?
Comments (4)Thank you rubyvine for your post. I appreciate your interest in my sink. It is beautiful and I was hoping someone could use it. I am surprised that your cab guys can't make the change... My husband works with a cabinet guy that said just removing the drawer front on the sink base and creating a support for the sink's weight is all it would take. But I am sure your guys have their own reasons. Thanks again!...See MoreFarm-house sink Vs double bowl sink
Comments (11)Believe me, there are NO plumbing issues involved. What MAY be an issue is finding a hardware store--or other source--for the parts you need to do a changeover. The best thing you can do for yourself is get down and climb under your present sink, the neighbor's sink, your family member's sinks, and familiarize yourself with the plumbing that's under there !! While you're down there, check for leaks, and use a ruler/tape measure to get an idea of sizes. Bathroom sinks are usually 1 1/4" diameter thinwall pipe; the tub/shower and the kitchen sink are, or should be, 1 1/2". One thing to remember: the 1 1/2" thinwall pipe hooked directly to the bottom of your sink, and tied into the "S" or "P" traps under there, is NOT NOT NOT the same as the 1 1/2" drain piping; HOWEVER--there are adapters to mate the thinwall to the heavier piping. By the way, you ARE gonna go to the store and find out what a "P" or "S" trap is, aincha?? Dont be afraid to ask Q's, and do realize many of the guys you ask are about as ignorant as you are when it comes to plumbing....many--not all of 'em. THEN: when you find somebody who sounds like (s)he can help you do this project, and they put down on paper the parts you need, the best thing you can do is repeat the process--go find somebody else at another store who can do likewise, and then compare the parts recommended, &c. Maybe this soundz like plumbing 101--you're right, it is. Anything else spellz disaster in the making, not to mention the resultant feeling you bin ripped off and jerked around, and that you coulda done a better job yourself.... if only.... you'd taken to heart the suggestion of: kenn 1RmSchlHse millersport oHIo -- there's a time and place for spontaneity.......See MoreAnyone have a Solid Granite Farmhouse Sink ~Looking For Reviews?
Comments (4)Hi mariofo, We just bought a Stone Forest 33" granite sink for a kitchen project from Sinks Gallery (SinksGallery.com) that arrived yesterday. We liked the "rough" apron front and thought it would work well for our project. It looks far better in person than it did from the photos! We did a lot of research before purchasing and decided that the Silgranite sinks looked too "plastic-like" or fake for our tastes. We were concerned about the upkeep, but ultimately realized that a sink takes no more abuse than a granite countertop and that many products existed to seal or clean. ...frankly, from what I have learned, the care & maintenance is pretty simple - soap and water on a daily basis and very occassionally a seal or cleaning using standard products used for granite countertops. These sinks are heavy - but that was part of the appeal to us. The sink will probably far outlast the house! ...and the natural look of stone is very cool - WAY better than silgranite IMHO. Good luck! PS - I have included a link to the sink that we bought. There are a lot less expensive ones sold by this company (also check out StoneSinksOnline.com) but we really liked the tones in the apron front of this particular sink. Here is a link that might be useful: 33...See MoreLooking for reviews on 33" Almeria Cast Iron Farmhouse Sink
Comments (12)We went with the Kohler Whitehaven, which I ordered from a seller on Houzz. When the contractors opened the box to install the sink (about three months after we had received it), they discovered that it was cracked in a couple places. Kohler replaced the sink and in fact sent the replacement by rush mail in order to not delay the rest of the kitchen project. We love the sink and the experience with Kohler was by far my best customer service experience ever, which I believe is one of the reasons people love Kohler products. I highly recommend this sink and I also highly recommend opening products as soon as you receive them to check for damage!...See Moredsciontijr
