Frankly, for case goods, once you are going high-end you might as well go with a custom wood furniture maker. I've done that several times and obtained gorgeous, well-made (and American-made) pieces styled just as I wanted them and didn't spend as much as I would have had I bought the same kind of pieces from a high-end furniture maker. For example, John Landis Cabinetworks made my dining room table, chairs, and side piece and I was able to slightly shorten the distance between the seat of the chair and the top of table - and double the batting in the seat cushions - in order to address being short-waisted and not wanting to feel like I need to sit on a telephone book when I am at my own dining room table. This was the first trestle table he made and he used to have it named after me! But no more. Anyway, the furniture is gorgeous, very well-made, unbelievably comfortable (those chairs are what sold me - great, great, great lumbar support - I can never get my guests to leave!) and not as expensive as the "retail" prices on the website suggest.

Chris2009_2009, I'll try to answer your question though I'm not an expert by any means. Sounds like instead of 8 way hand tied springs, coil springs, s-springs, blue steel springs the furniture you are looking at has rubber webs to hold the cushions up. I may be wrong here but my best guess is check out an upholstered dining/kitchen chair, usually they have a webbing underneath them to hold the upholstered seating in place and give support. Of course the furniture could just be rubber/vinyl strips going from front to back or side to side like a lawn chair.

unless you're willing to spend $4,000 and above it's very hard to get a really nice piece. most are not made well and it won't last. This is what I do I'm a designer an objective of mine is to find a used sofa buy a good manufacturer hand tied made in USA. Then I pick a fabric and have it reupholstered this way you will have a really good sofa for a long long time. Every piece of furniture I have has been reupholstered. I know this pretty gross to some people but I'm telling you it's very much worth your while. Also many manufacturers do not have good fabrics and by the time you pick the fabric you like it's going to cost you another thousand dollars or more. and their selection is pretty sparse. I bought my Fabrics online from anatol's Fabrics in Ohio online. They send you samples and you get the upholsterer to give you an estimate on how much you need.

Many leather furniture manufactures offer the Brompton leather pattern. This is a leather not a style of furniture. Leathercraft, Bradington Young and Classic leather are a few that come to mind. Brompton is a waxed pull up leather that will featured lighter shades of brown as it is pulled tight. You should avoid spills with this leather because oils will soak in and darken the hide. I do not know who makes the RL furniture but RH is made outside of the US.
