Tell me what appliance you love!

Hi there Garden Web'ers! I have been on THS since forever drooling and awwwwing at everyones gorgeous kitchens.... and now we too are launching into the scary land of kitchen reno and starting the dreaded appliance hunt....

Please share -what is/was your best purchase for large appliances and what makes you so happy about it?

Our appliance kit will be stainless steel:

1. 30" convection oven + speed oven combo

2. largest refrigerator possible (want standard depth-being built into existing pantry so will look cabinet depth) ( LG is largest but worried about reliability :()

3. dishwasher ( leaning towards Bosch)

4. induction top w downdraft ( leaning towards Bosch) (sorry no budget for blustar + gas line)

budget is approx 10k but can add more if we will get our value out of it.

Originally thought we would get a Bosch package but their fridges are small and speed oven reviews

look horrible w display going bad and doors breaking due to cheap plastic latches.

So now, throwing the package discount out the window and going for the features most needed.

Have spent many hours on AJ Madison and Yale and Houzz and you name it appliance blog.

+1 on a Bosch 800 DW. Mine is somewhere around 5 years old, and I have had zero issues and great performance.

I also really like my Bosch fridge - French-door with bottom freezer - especially the drawer action of the freezer.

i can only attest to what we have. installed since 2013

Miele Speed Oven - love it use multiple times a day.

Wolf 30" oven - love it - no issues

Miele DW, no issues, cleans beautifully

Miele 36" induction - just the best, would never have anything else

liebherr 36" CD frig. QUIET! easy to clean, love it

you mention biggest frig - some have used thermador columns, one frig one freezer. that might be something that would work for you. others very satisfied with SZ frigs, but they are $$$$

Buy each appliance according to your usage. get the best for what u can afford. no one brand makes the best of everything.

i would re-think the downdraft. they are not the best and nothing beats a great exhaust. either move the cooktop off the island or install a 'free standing' exhaust.

Miele CSO (convection steam oven) XXL

Miele DW with auto open/steam release for completely dry loads

I also love my Subzero column fridge and freezer, but I could live without them if I needed to trim the budget.

My kitchen is almost done and I finally get to post to this thread! In no particular order... I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my: -blumotion full extension drawers in the pantry, NOTHING gets lost and it is ALWAYS neat! Wooo hoooo!! -soft close cabinet doors -hot water tap (though I had this before the remodel...still LOVE it though) -super susans -Blanco silgranit super single sink -granite counters (never had them before and LOVE how easy they are to keep clean compared to my white laminate pre-model) -LOVE that my garbage is finally in the cabinet now! It was in our old house and when we moved I HATED having to keep it out. LOVE IT! -oh, and I really, really prefer my rev-a-shelf under sink organizer to the tilt out drawers I used to have.

I had a halogen recessed can over the sink in our last kitchen and it was wonderfully bright. How high is your ceiling? In that house, ours was only 7'10" and the can was in a small soffit, so only about 7'6" up, so I think that helped. In this kitchen I wanted more character to the lighting, and we have 9 ft ceilings, so went with 2 largish pendants, which also provide nice lighting. They hang just to each side of our sink.

Miele XXL CSO is the best appliance ever. I have a Miele dw with a super short pro washing cycle. It cost a fortune, but was so worth it since I have room for only one dw.

I love our Miele DW, no issues, cleans beautifully. I would probably steer clear of LG and Samsung for the fridge, many reviews on here. We have a GE fridge with french doors that we really like. We moved it to our garage when we redid our kitchen.

You didn't mention a microwave, so I'm not sure if you're adding one, but if you're thinking of purchasing, we do love our Sharp micro drawer.

Things I like best in my kitchen:

Speed Oven -- Have Miele -- one of the three heating elements broke, so now I can only broil or microwave (and have a separate microwave that works better than the microwave function on the Miele), so basically I can use it. now to toast/broil things. When it was fully functioning it was pretty much the only oven I used. Thinking about replacing it with Wolf speed oven (because I've been so happy with my cooktop).

Cooktop -- Wolf 36" induction. Started with a Bertazzoni combo unit; 3 gas hobs and two induction hobs (I was nervous about going all induction because I'd only ever used gas). When the induction hobs stopped working, realized that I was only using gas when absolutely necessary and replaced with the Wolf -- would never use anything but induction, and have been really happy with the Wolf.

Bosch 800 dishwasher -- quiet, gets the dishes spotlessly clean.

Not exactly an appliance, but one of my favorite things in kitchen is my Blum Servo drive trash pull-out. Will have that in any kitchen I have going forward.

We love our Bosch 300 Series Dishwasher. Lots of space, very quiet, great performance. 3 years old, zero problems. Our dishes look better than ever, and we constantly get compliments on our silverware and casserole dishes.

We also love our Miele U7/S1 Maverick! Great power, no loss of suction or cleaning of the machine to worry about! Very flexible too. Albeit, heavy. Just had to replace the hose after 4 years, however, we stretch it often to sweep our stairs, ceiling, and other surfaces probably more than others.
