My two cents is that spider mites cÃÂ n travel around a room on air currents, on our hands and clothes. Be sure to inspect your other plants carefully....do you have an inexpensive magnifying lens of some kind? The mites can be present without webs. That should be the first thing you do. A good shower is terrific advice though I would do it more often than ken suggested. You could also wipe down the bottom of ONE leaf with the alcohol as a tolerance test. Some plants (none in my personal experience) are sensitive to alcohol and you'll see leaf burning in a day or so. My favorite mite and other pest spray for house plants is one part alcohol to three parts water....stronger is ok. Keep the solution in a little spray bottle and use every couple of days. The mist allows you to get into little nooks and crannies where pests like to hide. I've never had a plant that had a problem with the alcohol Be sure to wash your hands after handling the prayer plant so that you don't contaminate the others. I'd be pleasantly surprised if the mites haven't already set up little villages elsewhere.

What am I missing? Put the TV in the built-in that you say is designed for it. Float the furniture so it's oriented to the TV and fireplace wall as decoenthusiast or nj momma suggest. (Sofa facing TV and two swivel armchairs.) No, you're not going to have the symmetry you want, but it will be functional and you'll get used to it. Question: It's a rather grand living room. Isn't there a family room for TV watching or is this it?

Hi! I love the idea of adding a lamp to the room to give you that nice but soft light in the evening and night. It will come really handy whie adding warmth to the whole space. Wouldn't worry about the couch not being centered with the TV, and yes, definitely try out the original gray from the couch! It will soften everything a bit, as the blue cover is making it look a bit heavy. Adding some big plants will also help you bring some warmth and softness, so I'd definitely go with that. And I like the idea of having a small but useful dining set on the right, near the window. The round mirror facing the window, that's a definite yes! You could also try changing the direction of the rug, as someone said above, being an open room, you don't need the rug delimiting the living room space versus the dining room space. And I loved judianna20's idea of adding another bookcase to frame the sofa. You don't even need to center it, and it will give you a nice frame. Just make sure to keep it tidy and clean! As @shirlpp mentions above, there are various articulating tv wall mounts. And there are also drop down mounts that also swivel/angle; the drop down mounts are particularly useful for mounting tv over the fireplace. mantelmount.com And Amazon also sells their line, as well as others. As another option, you could use a wheeled/mobile tv console/stand - and station the tv on the wall to the left of the fireplace. This could offer you a lot of flexibility and tv placement options.
