Furniture placement in l-shaped living room / dining room
Comments (6)Great, thanks! I would use a round table that can extend to oval when you have company in the dining area, right over near the kitchen. One chair backing into the corner, rather than a chair with its back to the kitchen door. The desk can stay right where you have it in this photo. Sofa on the wall with the windows with a side table at each end. Two chairs across from it with a table between them. I sketched a pic but can't post comments on my phone, boo :(...See MoreEXTREMELY tricky living room layout. Is it hopeless?
Comments (30)What am I missing? Put the TV in the built-in that you say is designed for it. Float the furniture so it's oriented to the TV and fireplace wall as decoenthusiast or nj momma suggest. (Sofa facing TV and two swivel armchairs.) No, you're not going to have the symmetry you want, but it will be functional and you'll get used to it. Question: It's a rather grand living room. Isn't there a family room for TV watching or is this it?...See MoreTricky living room angle (City apartment)
Comments (2)That is a quirky layout, but fun. If it were me I’d get a couple of simple stools for the kitchen bar, like wood with rush seats, so that I could sit there when it’s just me, or provide a perch for a friend to have a glass of wine while I’m cooking. And I would get a small round glass topped dining table, or the white tulip table from Ikea, to put in front of the window so I could see outside while dining or enjoy more light while working on my laptop. Once you have that in place you could figure out the sizes of your upholstered furniture, think multiuse, nesting tables, ottoman with storage, swivel chairs. And a large mirror on that wall where they had the tv, near the window, will bounce more light into the room....See MoreHelp! Tricky living room layout
Comments (13)@Clare Reiss, @njmomma - Thanks! I'm reluctant to cover the doors with drapes because the room will be very dark if I do. Also reluctant to put TV on large wall because I agree that back to the door is unsettling somehow. I think the best option is to go with what @Beverly suggested. The TV is a little awkward between the doors but it's really the best way to go....See Moreffpalms
