Why can't I install my speed cook oven under counter
Comments (14)I am WAY behind on this conversation but it's relevant to me now so I'm hoping maybe some of you can comment on how this has worked out for you. We purchased the Electrolux ICON microwave a couple years ago for our kitchen remodel. We had planned for it to go under counter. Installation day came and the installer saw the 36" above ground spec and even though could not come up with any reason as to why did not feel comfortable installing. So, we ended up getting a Sharp microwave drawer instead which was fine but I had really wanted the "2nd oven" since we were taking out wall ovens and replacing with a single stand alone range. Anyway, we were unable to return the ICON which was a pretty painful mistake at $1600+ !! I've tried to sell it on OfferUp, NextDoor but no luck. Now we are in a different house and undertaking another complete kitchen remodel. We made plans to install another microwave drawer in the island but we've discussed the situation of the Electrolux to see if there's any way we can use it instead. It's still in the box on the pallet it arrived on. Our kitchen designer and installers could not figure it out either and the designer even called Electrolux and the person he spoke to couldn't figure it out and said they didn't see any problem with it but that it wouldn't be covered under warranty if we installed it there. I'm not thinking this is a big deal because we're already out of the warranty period anyway. I just called Electrolux myself to see if I got the same answer. She didn't say anything about the warranty but said that it was an ergonomic or burn issue. Personally, I don't see how bending down to get something out of the microwave at this height is any different to getting something out of a regular oven (which is actually even lower and deeper!). Any new comments?...See MoreHelp, my countertops were installed with a rounded corner instead of !
Comments (65)I have been told by appliance sales staff that an exhaust hood is required for a gas range with burners above a certain output but none of them has been able to tell me where that regulation can be found. Section M1503 "Range Hoods" in Chapter 15 "EXHAUST SYSTEMS" of the 2015 IRC does not require an exhaust for a range but it does regulate the fan speed, duct design, discharge location, etc. IF someone chooses to install one. I suspect some people may have misinterpreted those regulations as requiring the exhaust system described. At any rate, a range exhaust is not a fuel-burning gas appliance "vent". Gas appliance vents are regulated by the IRC in Chapter 18, CHIMNEY and VENTS and require compliance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. I have yet to find a range that was required to have a ducted gas vent but I guess its possible....See MoreThey installed the wrong counter, what happens now?
Comments (14)I am a fabricator. A reputable fabricator will replace the incorrect tops within a couple of weeks* and give you a discount for the extra hassle. 5 - 10% would be reasonable. As mentioned previously honed quartz can be difficult to clean. We always make sure clients understand and acknowledge this as most people expect quartz to be "very easy to clean" which it is when polished. *Note: it could take longer depending on the lead time from the supplier to provide the correct material. Don't beat up your fabricator if this happens....See MoreCould my newly installed granite countertops be already repaired?
Comments (17)Particulates often pop out during fabrication...nature of the beast. Cutting granite isn't like cutting thru butter. lol The slabs with the mesh backer are typically more prone to this....or that's what I've been told. The mesh is there for a reason. I have a display top in my showroom that shows a RIVER of popped out particulates that was filled. My fabricator said it was excessive and offered to replace it. I wanted my clients to be able to see what can happen with stone so I said we'll keep it. Granite pros, in your opinion, whats the percentage of slabs that have been filled? I'll try to post a pic of our display. It's crazy!...See Morebkbaddis
