For sure fireclay from any brand can have longevity issues. Have you researched Silgranit yet? Do a Houzz discussions search for "Silgranit cracking" and see what you come up with in the first few dozen topics. Reviews are mixed at best. Have you considered copper?

Hoestly what is wrong with stainless it has stood the test of time and will always be IMO the best choice for a sink not matter what style you have. IMO if you want a farm sink then go what they were cast iron and a white finish that over the years chipped and got grossly dirty.

Will a fireclay get chipped and grossly dirty? I thought if it was white and chipped you wouldn’t notice? And do they not clean well? I have stainless now. My error was I ordered new cabinets with a special farmhouse sink cabinet before I understood the concerns with them. My appliances are all stainless. Would a stainless farmhouse sink by too much steel ?

No. It will look great.

I have had my Kohler Whitehaven (cast iron) going on 4 years and it still looks great. I do have the grills for the bottom.

Light colored Slingranit does not get great reviews here for staining problems. Stainless steel is the easiest, most durable choice. Kohler's Whitehaven sink has many fans if you want to stick with a white farmhouse/apron front sink.

All great thoughts to consider. My reading shows that the Shaw fireclay sinks seem to have changed in a bad direction the last few years in terms of cracking and chipping issues, so I’m going to avoid that direction. That leaves me with Kohler whitehaven, a white silgranit( first I’ve heard of staining so need to learn more there) or a stainless steel sink.

A question: if whichever sink I go with is a disaster, is there a way to change it without impacting the granite countertop, cabinet, faucet, and / or backsplash ?

I'm wondering how this turned out. I am considering a Rohl Allia fireclay sink, undermount either 32" or 35". I've also looked at Silgranit. What did you choose and do you like it? Why didn't you consider Rohl Allia fireclay sinks?

Hi, I ordered the Shaw rohls 36 inch fireclay and had it installed. It was defective as had a hump in back which would have made counter install very challenging. Water also sat stagnate in all corners. I had it removed before the counter was measured and scrambled to get it replaced with the Kohler whitehaven 351/2 inch low divide sink. My counter was installed yesterday.. kitchen uppers should go in today.
