GE Cafe range owners: Any of you NOT having problems?
Comments (21)I'm also in same boat as you and buffetgirl - it's sitting in my garage waiting to be installed in about 2 weeks (I got the AG). I'm also nervous - I bought mine right before some of the negative feedback began to come out. I've seen a lot of questions written about using the center burner. I'm mainly planning on using it as a warming burner. I tend to cook a lot of things at once. I figure if I have the griddle on there with the burner on medium or low, it will diffuse the heat very evenly and I can leave on several small to medium pots of sauce, soup, mashed potatoes & sweet potatoes, rice, polenta, warm fruit compotes... and it will keep them warm without burning the bottom or having to constantly stir all the time. In the past, I've had to rotate pots/pans on and off to keep everything warm at once. This is the theory anyways, we'll see how well it works....See MoreGE profile double oven gas range vs. GE cafe double oven range
Comments (5)I went with the Profile double-oven gas: here are my reasons. I like the smaller-size top oven for daily use, and the lower oven will only be used on occasion, so I'm ok with its location. (There's no room for a wall oven in my tiny kitchen -- and I have no plans to tear out cabinets and rearrange.) I'm a good cook, and I honed my skills on low-end domestic ranges because that's what was available: I don't need a commercial range to cook what I like, and I'm too busy with other aspects of my life to change my cooking style now. I also prefer not to deal with "pro" level BTUS and the ventilation complications they might add. I also am not willing to give up self-cleaning ovens -- which puts many pro-style ranges out of contention. I liked the slide-in setup and the angled control-knob location on the Profile, so that, and the price advantage, led me to choose it over the Cafe. Re: price, I bought mine from a local dealer, and I got the price down a bit by asking them to meet the ajmadison.com price. They didn't quite get there, but I was willing to pay a little extra for local sales/delivery/service reliability. Everyone's situation is a little different, but I found that the Profile slide-in fits best with my kitchen and the way I use it....See MoreGE Cafe vs Samsung Refrigerator
Comments (11)We are debating on either counter depth or standard size. The counter depth would look nicer, but we are worried about capacity being an issue. Models we are considering are: GE Cafe counter depth - CSCP5UGXSS CE Cafe standard depth - CSHS5UGXSS Samsung counter depth - RSG257AARS Samsung regular depth - RF267AASH (I think) Pros and Cons: The Cafe has stainless steel sides, so if we go with standard depth, the stainless sides would look better than the Samsung's gray plastic-like sides. If we go with counter depth, the side colors/materials aren't an issue. A plus for Samsung: the hinges are hidden, giving more of a build\t-in appearance (Cafe's hinges show.) The Samsung is less expensive than the Cafe. The Cafe's handles are a closer match to our Electrolux Icon appliances. I really don't like the Samsung's handles....See MoreGE Cafe Handles on non-Cafe appliances?
Comments (85)I have the 4 door copper handles the dishwasher handle and double oven handles all the original boxes unused one not even open. All copper let me know if you want for half the retail price as they would not restock opened boxes. I prefer the copper handles but the brush bronze that came with appliances goes seamlessly with my other hardware so I am keeping the original bronze and selling the brand new copper that has never been used. Gorgeous. Stunning. t me know...See MoreKathy Ureel
