hNeed help designing my new living room!
Comments (7)Sorry everyone, we have no living room furniture as of now that we want to bring into this house. We are not able to paint anything as it is a rental. We’re shopping around for couches and coffee tables now but we’re having trouble starting because of the color of these walls! Something simple and, I wouldn’t say “cheap” but we are all young adults just starting our careers so we don’t want to go too crazy. Thank you for your responses!...See MoreHelp design living room of new home
Comments (18)@partim1, @havingfun No there wouldn't be a TV in this room. Please see fourth wall pic below. in that pic you can see the main entrance door on the right. The opening on the top left of pic is to Dining Room. The second picture is taken standing at the front door. There's big picture window behind those curtains. No we don't need those 2 opening on either side of the fireplace. We have another opening to get into family room behind this room. We're open to any colors i think as long as everything goes well together.seating maybe 3-4. Thanks guys....See MoreHelp!! Just moved and need help designing my living room!!
Comments (4)Giavanna, I think your best best is to first settle on a look you're going for. Go through Houzz photos (do a search on Open concept living rooms) and create an ideabook of things you like. Do you like modern styles? Traditional styles? It looks like you have kids, so family friendly will likely be important. I think we need a bit more to go on before we can give you good advice....See MoreNeed Help designing my living room , Here is my current couch colour
Comments (13)I see what you've done including/incorporating your sofa's pinkish tan in your pillows and rug and using analagous deeper pinks. You might have better luck with a color scheme that relies on whites and then contrasting colors (navy, charcoal, chocolate brown) and lets the sofa's pinkish tan stand by itself. (Patricia is right that photos of more of the room would get you more helpful advice. She is wrong, IMO, to fling fly-by snark at your sofa instead of advice; and in how she spells the word "please". Proofread, please, @Patricia Colwell. Your comments are challenging to read. Thanks.) Maybe this thread could help? https://www.houzz.com/magazine/how-to-decorate-a-living-room-stsetivw-vs~105196187 I'd start by painting the walls white. Consider white curtains with some texture, not pattern. Target often offers attractive panels - look for their Threshold or Hearth & Home/ Magnolia brands. If you want to keep your rug, tone everything else way down and incorporate its dark chocolate. Look at the photo in No. 8 - patterned rug....See Morejillybean103
