Need Ideas for a Bland Living Room!

We got married and moved in together about 6 months ago. We've been having fun decorating and setting up our home, however Living Room has been the toughest challenge for us so far 😄. I'm thinking of getting curtains for it, but I don't think that's totally going to fix the problem!! we could get a large art price for the long blank wall but I feel it's still going to be bla.... across from the living room is our kitchen, in an open plan kinda concept with a low wall sperating them so I don't want to do anything that won't link kitchen. Even though there are plenty of windows I want to have a really bring and inviting room. I was considering painting the fireplace wall a off white, or doing some bring wallpaper and getting some plants for the matel. Just was looking for ideas and suggestions!! Something about the room just makes me grumpy every time I see it!! 😄

I think a new paint color would be the key but I also suggest a new rug, the one you have is very dark and there is now definition between the couches and the rug, That will give you some contrast and might help you feel better about it until you can paint.

Measure out your space to see how much usable space you will have for the furnishings. A sectional might or might not be a good option for you. As you shop gather dimensions of pieces you like then use tape and place it on the floor so you can see how it will look space wise. As mentioned above pick your focal point. Your fireplace is so nice it seems that you should work around that.

congrats on your new condo! she is lovely in and out. Well, I am sure we could help you make the inside look more like the outside. but i have to say the inside looks just like newly built houses. so that is more your choice i think. and perhaps you just want to use what you have and add a few pieces that will give you more of the look you want, but it does not have to match the exterior. you mentioned a lot of pics from around the world, I am guessing you want to know how to use. I have collected some idea. the one thing that is universal is using the same color frames. you can use varied but you have to have more skills to make it work.in a black frameanother external frame main subject in center bits of subject around.this is a set of family pics in a format.

Thanks to all who have commented thus far. We're definitely swapping out the floor lamp, I love the idea of replacing it with some thing that will add interest to the space. We'll be wall mounting the TV (it has only been a year since I bought the mount, lol) and painting the wall behind it, again focusing on adding color. There is a view beyond the chaise that we don't want to "block" with furniture so swapping the chairs with the chaise has some drawbacks. We're open to replacing the chairs too, but we'll probably start with the smaller ideas (lamp, paint, pillows) and see if more is necessary.
